How wrong I was; I thought Alex just sat waiting for posts on CIU all day long. Then I thought he'd rush out and weigh all his pole sections and come back and answer by lunchtime.
Perhaps his scales and other paraphernalia have gone missing?
Just been busy that is all

- I have weighed all items again to double check. All weights are correct as posted on the site apart from the weight of the SLX extension#5 which is actually only 275g not the 305g it is listed as. This means that the combined weight of the Xtreme18 and the SLX Extension#5 is also lighter than it has been listed as on the website chart. The combined weight should be 995g not 1020g as listed.
This difference will be because the original weights were for the initial prototype product run and in production sometimes the tolerances can be improved which can improve the weight.
You are wanting to know though why the weight difference between the SLX18 and the SLX22 is only 180g compared to the SLX Extension#5 section which weighs 275g.
This will be because when adding an extra section, we also remove the insulation layer from the SLX18 handle section so the weight difference is less than simply adding a section.
However when adding the extension section to the Xtreme18 you are keeping the handle section with its insulation which is heavier than a standard Xtreme section#4 section.
We are just about to bring out an Xtreme22 and an Xtreme#5 extension which will be a lot lighter than the SLX extension#5.
Is that any clearer?
