Which van for a 1000ltr tank?
« on: April 22, 2014, 12:49:21 pm »
Does anyone carry 1000 litres or more in their van? if so what van do you use? I want to get a decent van which will let me carry this amount of water, as I can easily use that much in a day, and I am fed up with wasting time filling up half way through the day. Thanks

We have just ordered the new transit 350 and are fitting an Ionics 1000 ltr hot zero system
We have already got an old Renault master carrying 1000 ltr and a peugeot boxer 1000 ltr
I would never use anything smaller as 1000 ltrs is easily used in a few hours on larger jobs

Thanks for the reply mate, any preference on the vans you have? I like the look of the VW Crafter. Can't wait to have my 1000ltr tank fitted, no more filling up and wasting valuable time!!

For a 1000l tank you want as big a payload as you can get, so i'm glad to hear you are looking at the crafter, and not the transporter!.

If you are thinking of new, then i would suggest looking on autotraders new van section at some of the 'less fashionable' vans, such as, citroen relay/fiat ducato/peugeot boxer, or the nissan nv400/renault master/vauxhall movano. One example which caught my eye was a mwb 3.5t citroen relay with the 130bhp engine for under £13k

Thanks Simon, thats a good price for a new Relay!! Although I'm probably going to look at something second hand for around £8000.

I had a serious look at the ex rac transit 350's.  between 5 and 6 grand.  only thing that put me off was you get 20mpg

The best van for the job is the new transit custom 330 swb, It does 40mpg and takes 1484 kgs

Hi Gary, yes things are improving thanks! My divorce is finally over and I am about to get a lump sum from the sale of my house, so I can afford to get a decent van and equipment, and get my business back together at last!

Dont know where you are based groundhog, but just been looking on autotrader and seen something which may suit your needs. An '09 transit mwb 3.5t with the 140 bhp 2.2tdci engine, 62.5k miles, £7495+vat. It is being sold by midland vans in the Birmingham area.

I run a 90 350 transit with a 500 litre tank but I will be changing it for a 1000 tank this year, i don't really notice when the 500 tank is full!
Im not scared of heights, just falling from them.
