Quoted large house today, they asked me look at large Georgian floor to ceiling window, previously each pane has had a clear coating, which appears to be a film, of what the new owner was informed is a UV protector, as previous owners had fading furniture from full sun exposure.
It's been on a while, and quite brittle, I know the long way is to carefully blade/scrap off, then remove residue of the sticky backing.
Is there any other way , or chemical that can be used?
The frames have only been painted recently so must be nothing that can damage paint.
If we go scraping route there are around 50 small panes, at even 5 mins each it will be an uneconomical solution

That is going to be a nightmare of a job.
The uv film is a ballache of a job to get off, comes off in tiny pieces and is super sticky. Have not come across anything to make it easier so watching this thread to see if there is any good answers.
1st thoughts is to either price very high as it will take an age to get off, or advise them you can't do it to a satisfactory finish.

feel quite weak all over reading this post as its brought back memories of a pet shop I once removed window film from once. 

can be done just takes ages so you need to price accordingly i.e. thing along terms of day rates or half day rate .. what you think will take an hour takes 3 times longer.

personaly i would give that a very wide birth you could be leaving your self wide open for a claim if you were to damage the glass.on the bright side tell them it would be cheaper to re glaise then give her your price .a very big one, good luck
