RO help please 40 40

Hi what way does the membrane go in to the housing  ??? one end has a white rubber ring around it and the other does not.

They can go in either end, but the the one with the rubber ring is the pure water side as far as i can remember

Thank you for that, I wasn't sure , I've fitted it now and I was told to run for about half hour before hand ,
