I don't use one but it's firmly on my shortlist when I do renew the Hiace.   I love Transits, always have.

However, someone will be along in a minute to point out that it'll be a rustbucket the week after you buy it... the same people who tell me my Hiace does 3mpg.  Probably the same people who will say no Vivaro/Trafic gearbox has ever lasted more than 200 yards and that Peugeots are just completely unreliable.

Highest payload for the swb is around 825kg for the 220. My lwb 230 has a 900kg payload, i have a 500l tank and on a customers weighbridge with a full tank, i was 40kg under my gvw.

They don't appear to do the SWBs with bigpayloads nowadays but if you're buying secondhand there are SWB 280/300/330s out there that would easily take the load.

I've got a 06 Swb connect
Good van had it 2 years+ never any problem,

I've also got a 500l tank in it but I only fill it to about
350-400 most of the time, but have filled it
When I've had too, but I no it's  over

500L will take it over weight but if you get
Reinforced tyres on it the payload is 825 without looking
I think   650 kg for normal I think

would def need a lwb connect for a 500lt tank, this is what i currently have used for the last 3 years or so no problems of yet although i think the clutch is starting to slip a little with a full load, good workhorses.

Hi Danny

We run SWB Connects, all bar one has been great, the "rogue" threw a rod at 84k, we fitted a recon engine, total cost £1,200 and runs well.

The T200's (625kg payload) have 350L tanks and weigh 1990kg fully loaded (including driver) the GVW is 2225, the T220 (825kg payload) has a 500L Brodex system, you can fit a 500L flat Wyedale tank with space for reel but it's tight, it weighs 2140kg fully loaded (including driver) the GVW is 2225kg.

Overall very happy with the Connect and will purchase T220's in future.

They aren't as 'trendy' as the vw or merc vans. But they are good workhorses. If you ever want to know what van is a good one look at the big companies, nearly always a connect.

I have a 500 litre tank in mine, with extra heavy duty tyres at 950 kg each. I don't fill mine all the way up all the time, but when I do it copes surprisingly well.

Always worth going for the extra heavy duty tyres though. A wfp mate of mine bought a connect that had the chav treatment with alloys and low profiles. I told him he'd get blowouts, he didn't listen to me and got three, he then went onto steelies and high load radials. So be aware of that

Had mine for 7 years now never failed an mot plus its very reliable though did have to get a new starter motor last month but this could happen on any van!
I have a 400 litre tank in mine but never fill fuel tank to over half to keep me under weight!

1000kg is not class leading , the current shape fiat doblo ('10 onwards) has a 1000kg payload option, as does the current shape vauxhall combo ('12 onwards).
