buy a local street map and colour it in as you go .   you must put out at least 400 everytime else you wont get a result .  no pain no gain when it comes to leafletting

I dropped about 20 000 leaflets in 2012 around the areas I now work,  I went full time the beginning of last year so didn't do any leaflets,  I have 10 000 this year to drop and I will order another 10 000 for later on in the year.

I would read David Kent's posts on the subject.

I've dropped 10k per month in areas we work repeating 2 or 3 times per year, this achieves around 0.3%, however I now personalise the leaflet to the area and repeat monthly, I await to see the results.

Bob leafletting can be done by anyone as you know, its easy, walk up and post then on to the next.
The not so easy bit is getting your leaflet seen and read.
I have over the years leafletted ALOT but only after trial and error and some training (from a millionaire I might add who built his business with leaflets)
 
Time of delivery is VERY important.
Branding of the leaflet to match your van and work wear is next.
And IF 'area' specific you can add typical prices and the name of the estate you are delivering on.

Have masses delivered and work off the idea that the more you get out there the more work you will find. This method works but your job spread will be massive.

The method I use takes time to build up, and you MUST have your van the same as your leaflets, print colours and style. Once established on any given estate (and you do a top job) leaflets bring in more work than you can handle.
I leafletted the start of Jan (About 2500 leaflets in total, not all delivered at once) to date we have over 100 new customers from this. (My target is 600 new regular customers this year, leafletting on hold at the moment as my baby daughter is due to come into this world on Friday)

Leaflets and leaflets!

They work if they are done properly!

I did 20k and got 1% back (total crap low value work £5-£10)
I did 5k last year and pulled in 4% and higher value work mostly. £60+ jobs

Design and functionality.
Round robin your targets but make sure your not wasting your time on a bad return area.
Demographics are important but remember if you think an area is good so do competitors.

See where you get and if it fails think why!
Next time you may see a better spot to work.

Between 12 and 2.30 is prime time! BEFORE mums pick the kids up.

I have never realy thought about it like that before regarding times.. Im a prime example, when i get home from work i check my mail and keep anything addressed to me or the mrs and throw away the rest without giving a 2nd glance however if on a nice sunny sunday a leaflet pops through the door with big bold window cleaning services offered then id more than likely read it as its not mixed with all the other junk and id be in a sunday laid back mood..
Am i right assuming sundays are a good day to do a massive drop??
