Nat could you have a look at mine site  it's www.peterswindowcleaninglondon.co.uk I've done the seo on it but I am look to give it a update thank you peter

Your site isn't too bad, but there are some issues:

1. Your geographical tags are strange,.. you've got "North London, South London, West London" etc etc - - more people would be searching "Enfield, Edgeware, Croyden, Barking" etc etc,.. so you're probably loosing a lot of traffic from that.
2. Your site doesn't have a responsive framework, so will be hard to view and navigate on some smartphones and tablets - this looses you visitors and increases your Google bounce rate  - with over 50% of browsing now done via mobile devices, this isn't something you should ignore.
3. Auto-starting videos are annoying & could loose you more customers than they gain!
4. The whole focus of your site is about you and your services are relegated to a single main menu tab with a drop-down. The site should push your services to the forefront, and it should be the "About Us" type information on those sub-menu's!
5. Stock images don't sell! You need to remember that you're not even selling services on the website, you're selling YOURSELF as a service provider, so photos of you and your team, your van etc on the main pages will drastically improve your conversion rate.
6. Its very wordy - thats great for google, but bad for people. No one is going to read all that in one big block, so you need to bullet point the important bits so they're visible at a glance & break up blocks of text with some nice photos.

Can I just add, its good to give feed back on companies and services us window cleaners use

I have used Nathanael Jones for 3 websites and each time I have been really happy working with him, his sites have been great, has a great attention to detail and nothing is too much problem, if you are looking for someone to build you a website then he comes with my recommendation

Sorry to put the cat amongst the pigeons but I don't like it. Looks home made. That big blue background image looks like something from the 90s.

Also who is ever gonna type that hugely long domain and get it right? Nobody.

That's fine if you're relying on people clicking from somewhere else, but if they see your van and think "ah I need a window cleaner, I'll email them when I get home" they get home and then have no chance remembering what it was.

Just my opinion, sorry to be negative.

There's actually 2 domain names pointing to the website (I do this on most of my sites), one is short and easy to remember, the other is longer but much more google friendly,..

*edit* I just realised that the link posted above is neither of the domains - its just a bit of temporary webspace we we using to build the website until it was ready to go live!

Also, why are there big white spaces next to the text?

This is what I see:

I'm using firefox by the way.

As I said, it just looks home-made.

adjust the width of the window and you'll see what I mean.  I started with a window about 2/3rds the size of the display and that's what I saw.  After I posted the pic I started fiddling with the width and the layout does change.  (but a customer could easily just see that)

I think it's supposed to make it display better on differnt screens sizes, but IMO its been poorly done.

I hate to naysay, and I don't even have a website so it's better than what I've got.  If it was a freebee as favour for a mate etc, fine.  But if I was paying someone to do it for me, I have to say I would at least expect it to be done properly.

Just my opinion

Thanks! The proof reader missed that one - fixed now. ;)

@ Pete Thomson - I see what you mean, the layout is messing up a bit for one particular screen size isn't it?! I'll take a look at that and see what I can do about that.

Pete, thank you for your feed back and aim sure Nat has taken your constructive criticism on board and will make some or all the changes, aim sorry you don't like it and you are welcome to have your opinion, it is to replace this website http://www.poolecleaning.co.uk/ which am sure you can see is not as good as the new one! my new website was purposely built to get across that I am a local window cleaner offering a reliable,  friendly & affordable service, people love to deal with someone that is local and small and not a big faceless company
