Am I being totally unreasonable?
« on: March 20, 2014, 09:10:44 pm »
Last year preparation of my corporation tax return cost me £270.00. This year (without telling me of any increase) they want £450.00 plus vat. They did no extra work, I have management account prepared to p&l/trial balance stage by someone else so its exactly the same work as last year.

No you're not being unreasonable.  They probably have T & Cs to cover themselves though.  I would say that an inflation based increase is fair (maybe 3%) and anything extra should require pre-notification to give you a choice.

Just politely phone up and ask them why the amount has gone up so much.

See if there is any extra hours they spent and why.

The more they bluster = the more they thought they could get away with it.

It's a game of three halves!
