Ladderless removal services.
 Could have rigged a whinch system to lower or raise the furniture.
Needed a good sit down after this.

Believe it or not a mate of mine did almost exactly the same thing but we lived on the 3rd floor.
Tied the sofa with a rope for stability but he took most of the weight and shoulder pressed the sofa up at the top.
Moved it in and out 2 years later.
