Hmmmm yet your the one getting personal calling me an idiot!
999 people out of 1000 will throw your leaflet in a bin especially as so many window cleaners leaflet which makes it even harder ro get noticed, to me that is an utter waste of paper where as if i knocked 1000 doors id be angry if i didnt pick up 50/100 customers from it.
 if you have legs going to each door posting a leaflet that will get binned then you may as well knock and introduce yourself in a confident cheeky manner as first impressions of a person against a piece of card chucked through there letterbox with all the other junk mail that we all get and bin simply works wonders, also its harder to ignore a real person talking to you face to face than it is to bin a leaflet!.
Id feel more of an idiot if i walked up and down 1000 customers front gardens and only heard back from 1 or 2 .in fact Id feel even more of an idiot if i was paying £60 for every 1000 leaflets that get delivered for such a small return when i could simply pay £5 to a canvasser for every job gained that wants a 2nd clean.
I dont say leaflets dont work, i say they are a waste of time and money compared to a more personal approach of canvassing.
A perfect example is me building my stepdad up in under 2 months of canvassing twice a week(8 sessions) with 2/3 canvassers doing a 2 hour knock each time 6-8.
200 customers for 16 hours work!

If you have it in you to canvass then you will build a solid compact round with minimal cost in a short period of time.

If you dont have it in you then you will still build a round but it wont be compact and it will take a verey, verey, verey, verey, verey, verey, verey long time and if paying leafletters the cost per customer is huge.

Leaflets do work,it generally just takes longer to see the results,
all my work is compact and all from the intial leaflet,then neighbours
seeing me then word of mouth etc etc

some people have a preference for one or the other

use all the tools in the box

Canvassing i have also had some good work but ALOT more messers, bad payers etc.

IT IS ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU PUT ON THEM , Get it wrong they all go in the bin get it right and you will have a good success rate but it comes with having a good website and the right presence and image . Mike
