Bugger!
« on: March 08, 2014, 05:01:24 pm »
Did a conseratory roof clean yesterday got the roof done and most of the glass and the pump stopped  :(

customer came out and had a look - very pleased and we were generally chatting - all looked fine. Told her I couldn't finish a couple of windows 'cos the pump had packed up - not to worry she said.

Got a call this morning "you've smashed one of my windows!"
Told her I couldn't have - she saw them yesterday with her own eyes.
"but I didn't look very closely"

drove out and sure enough one pane is covered in cracks - can't explain it, cold water and everything was fine when I left.

Offered to pay for it probably £100 down the pan.  ::)roll

How do you think that happened? I know when I use to use hot water (60 degrees) 3 units blew out and shattered on the floor in winter time.

Hi Dave, how did the custy reckon you had broken the glass ?

They wondered if I'd smacked it hard with something. All I can think is the glass maybe had a very small chip already and the water was enough to set it off later. I know 100% I didn't do it but if I was in their position I would automatically assume the windy did it.
I guess it's better for me to take it on the chin rather than deny it and clear off.

Had another custy phone last night ............
"When you were collecting last night did you drop some money on our drive?"
Being honest I replied I had no idea why?
"because we found £15 by the car and we don't know who's it is"

I have no idea if I dropped it or not, probably but I can't prove it. They kept it.

Doesn't pay to be honest!   :'(

hi when the window man comes round to change the glass get him to look at how the packers were put in.sometimes if they are put in to tight this will break the glass. ps even months after they were put in. >:(

My friend had several panels shatter in her glass conservatory roof at various times (inner panel only).  Something about some screws being used were too long and didn't allow for expansion.
