Send them a photo of the initial reading (it'll have one from being tested) with a picture of the day's paper in the photo with date visible (So you're not claiming for water you've used in the past).  Tell them you're going to be looking for a rebate from the date of the photo based on the amount used.

Do i fit this meter in the van from ro waste or from the inlet to the ro?
I have a meter was going to fit it this weekend but i thought it went before ro so i can record how much water is being used for my business and then i tell them the waste water is either recycled or put on my garden so therefore i have no waste.

Isnt this the correct way forward.?

No bud you are trying to get a reduction in waste charges.

So in 12 months time you can say 650,000L was my waste from RO. This was either recycled or used to water the garden. So the meter needs to go on WASTE outlet.

You wont get 100% reduction in waste because you will still have some in your house.

Just remember its for YOU to prove you are not putting this "waste water" down the drain.

Has anyone any idea what sort of money we are talking about here that we are likely to save, let's say we use 500 litters of water on the glass every working day and we therefore have approx 1000 liters going to waste (or we tell them the garden) what we can expect to save money wise?

You should be able to find your water service provider and just work out the waste water charge per 1000L

I think its like £1.20 a 1000L waste charge from memory.

500 litres of pure at 4:1 waste produces 2,000 litres of waste.  Here it's £2.20/1,000 litres for waste. so £4.40 a day. 230 working days, Thousand quid a year.

Correct  me if I am wrong but I installed a meter before my Ro so it measures all my consumption both pure and waste. The waste goes into my garden and the pure goes into my customers gardens so none goes down the drain so a water abatement relief goes to all my water for business.

Have you told the water board that the reading before the Ro is for business use then?

Yes I did and they were fine with it but they stuck me on business rates and started charging vat on full amount for my domestic usage as well so I think I'll probably be slightly worse off.

You will be i think. Its better to put the water meter on the RO waste.

I had a discussion with a window cleaner who is ex water board lol, he explained it all. I didn't even realize there is rules to do with rain water harvesting which sounds pathetic.

thanks for all your help i will put it on my waste tomoz and take a pic on monday with a paper as instructed.
i complained to the water board this morning saying 12 months is madness and why couldn't i just give you a reading at the end of every month,I'm waiting a call on monday but don't hold my breath.
