Displaying Prices online and on flyers
« on: March 03, 2014, 09:01:51 pm »
Im considering the Pro's and Con's of displaying my prices in a standardised format both on my website and on my leaflets .

Im keen to find out who does it? Who doesn't. and why.?

Does it work for you ? Does it work against you?

Does your competition take advantage and use it to undercut?

I've never displayed prices on anything. Each job is priced when I've seen it. I sell my service eye to eye, not on what someone with no idea of pricing decides is a "good" price.
So I never have a problem really. The custy has to take it or leave it.
Some will, some won't, so what, next.

How can you price a house youve not seen.

I tried it and it didn't work any better than my normal leaflet. I like to price a house by seeing it first. Too many variables to rely on a fixed price.
"Thank you for calling: if you have a 1st floor flat, mid terraced house, lots of dogs, no parking, no side access, or no sense of humour, please press hold!

Clients can get a quote and book online and via call centre, it's a simple window, pane or roof panel calculation, interesting thing is I find I get better rates which just shows how bad I am!

I thought about doing this Jim but thought better of it.

Think it can lead to arguments with the custie they expect one price (a cheap one!) and you give another.

You could maybe give a guide say 3 bed semi starts from x amount.

When people ask me on the phone i say it will be between this and that price but i will need to take a look as i don't want to over quote the job.

This is where door knocking wins "do you need a windie"
"yes how much?"

your there you take a look and give them the price straight away.

I've seen guys on here with price calculators on their website which you enter the amount of windows and it calculates a price but it's all a bit risky.

I know what your trying to do as people want to know 3 things.
1) how much?
2) how often?
3) how do i pay you know when to open my gate.

Or is that 4 ;D

I put typical prices on my leaflets, BUT I DO DESIGN AND DISTRIBUTE MY LEAFLETS IN A DIFFERENT WAY TO EVERYONE ELSE ON HERE.
Leaflets work extremely well for me.

a good idea might be to  go public with prices higher than what you normally charge

I have mine on the website as a guide price.
Did it really because I'm full and it does stop the messers.
Enquiries are lower but if you don't park on the lawn or run over the cat, the business is mine.

If your building your round then don't. People buy people and you need to be seen.
