got my wfp set up in the van!
« on: February 22, 2014, 05:40:34 pm »
well fitted it all today and the partner lends itself quite well, battery goes perfect under passenger seat, the 400 litre upright squeezed right between the sides although ive not secured it properly yet.
took me an hour to get everything in there plumbed and wired up before i tested it but worked a treat although the pump isnt as powerful as i thought it would be, im running it at about 60-65?
priced it all up and its come in at £300 with hose reel, not poles or resin though.

Try re calibrating the controller, you may find that helps with the pumps pressure....

i have actually mike, i got a role of the stuff from gardiners when they had it on offer but feel like ive got to use this stuff as i paid £30 for 50 meters of it from a guy on ebay, to be honest though i'll probably not use it much now ive got van set up but i plan to put a mini reel on the trolley so i might fit the pole hose then.

Twist that tap another half turn so the hose is almost running flat along the van floor (looks like it's coming out th tap vertical) ... Drop your pump lower (to the floor) ... The weight of all the water pushing down will assist and save you on the pump (in theory) .. I have mine that way and work between 20-30 .. And that's still good flow rate tbh ..

good advice pal, however i couldnt turn the tap anymore unless i took it all back off again and maybe tried to wrap more ptfe tape round the thread to make it stiffer to twist in?, i did think it maybe wrong pointing upwards and also thats why i put the pump almost level with it instead of lower as the pipe would be doing a u shape?
would the water in the tank not help by pushing the flow to the pump?

I'd take the tap off and wrap some more ptfe dude, or if you cant at least also lower the pump. If the pumps lower than the tank outlet it should help water syphon which helps your pump draw the water.
You may be ok to be fair but if you do it now it'll save you having to faff wirh it in the future

I looked at these photos yesterday and didnt have time to post.

The only thing that worries me or i would be concerned with is the cheap fittings you have used on the tank its self.

MY personal opinion would have been to buy a cheap elbow at say £4 with a 1/2inch barb on it.

With what you have on your tank, i can honestly see it disconnecting and leaking in that corner.

I know you have done stuff on the cheap as I have been reading your posts with great interest but for me something you dont cut corners on.

Sorry to poo poo on your parade :)

I don't like to be negative.. but that looks really unsafe, I hope you secure that tank somehow before you attempt to drive it..

No it's quite a tight fit to get through bulk head but I wouldn't trust my life on it so am going to secure it pal as I said in first post!
