Just wanted to post this to help anyone who may have fuel issues with their Renault Traffic.
I have a 55 plate Renault Trafic with 85k miles on the clock.
A few weeks ago it had problems starting and progressively got worse, a mechanic I always use changed the fuel filter and lines, new crank sensor, new fuel rail sensor, all of which didn't make a difference. They did a back leak test on the injectors which came back fine. It got to the point when we doing the starter motor in and then using easi-start.
It then went to Renault who said they checked the injectors, they were fine, but then they weirdly said that they 'think' two of them might have a problem so will need to replace them all, at a cost of £1,500, but that it may be something else sending a faulty reading to the ECU.
I spoke to another contact who recommended a garage specialising in Diesel fuel injection engines. They said all the injectors were fine. They actually took them out and bench tested them (something main dealers don't do). What the problem actually was (as they diagnosed) was a broken pressure relief valve on the end of the common fuel rail. Everyone said that you cannot buy that part separately but had to buy the whole rail, which costs £400.
But a chance conversation led to me being told you can buy the valve separately. The company, should anyone need it is called Thames Valley Electro Diesel Ltd 01189 751 199, based in Reading.
Just thought I'd post this to help anyone who has similar problems at anytime. We lost a lot of days (not too bad considering the weather we had) and it almost cost me a fortune with it not even getting fixed. I'm guessing it could be the same for Vivaro's and Primastar as well.
I think our second van will be a VW Transporter! Worth spending the extra ££'s.
