Hi everyone.

I know some on here use the little giant ladders on here.

just wondered are they good for getting over garden gates 6-7 feet or not.

I can see you would open ladder as a step ladder i suppose with hinged bit above top edge of gate and a ladder either side of gate.

Does this work or is it too difficult to do as mentioned.

I use normal open top ladder and place section either side but have some custies where this doesn't work due to shape of building.

ex,  garage next to garden gate so low roof guttering so no flat wall to lean ladder against but flat wall other side.

wondered if pointer ladder would be a better ladder for getting over gates with.

Anyone got a solution.

Don't want to add more text the night before customers to open gate brigade to the list.

Hi Lee,

I've no solution for customers that padlock gates, but if just bolted (where you can't reach) a wooden broom handle with a hook screwed in works well. You can bend open the hook a bit and then reach over and unhook the gate from stepladders. You soon get the hang of it. I've been using this method since I started.

i still text custies the night before who have locked gates, as its still easier

i too have a pole in the van with a ring spanner on the end to reach over gates to unlock  bolts

Screwfix do their own version which is  only £100, I've owned both makes and the screwfix one is actually better, if feels more sturdy when it is on full extension.

Thanks guys i have a magnet on a decorators pole for gate bolts but more and more with padlocks.

Don't want to keep texting people.

Willl canvass more work in spring and price so front is worth doing on it's own £10 say.

Tell custie i can have a key to their gate which most won't give, climb over/unhook gate bolts or if not safe just do fronts.

tired of all that texting business especially with all this sh!t weather i will work in drizzle but nothing else so end up texting your coming then texting your not

i text most customers who have locked gates.to be honest its only a very small percentage of my work.others i simply split the ladders either side of gate or lean over with my squeegee on my single 8ft pointer and push the bolt over.

as for texting the night before and not being able to work the next day due to weather. well!its as rare as hens teeth!

on the odd occasion i cant get round i simply text that ill be around the day after.ive only ever done that about 3 times in 5 years!

It wasnt brought for climbing over gates ( but found it ws handy for doing so ) as i rarely get custies who forget.
It was brought for access & conny roof cleans etc & it small enough to stand up in the back if the van, ridding the double ladder i used to carry on the roof rack.

This looks ideal for me.  Some of my custies have long flat roofs and it's easier to climb up and work my way along than clean from the ground.  At the moment I get a little stepladder out of the back of the van and use it to get the big ladders of the Vivaro roof, very time consuming.  Having this folded up and very compact in the back would save all that.

I also have a 6ft pointer in the back, at an angle from the doors on one side to the edge of the water tank on the other, right in the way of everything!  Be nice to get that out of the way too.

Have you seen how many different ladders Screwfix sell!  Would their alternative be a combination ladder or multipurpose ladder?  I can't see which of theirs would be the same as yours
