I'd answer the door as untill I'd opened the door and spoke to him, I wouldn't know why he'd called.

I would id do what i do with every other sales man.. look out the window to see who is at my door    someone i don't no... looking like some sort of cold caller.. then don't answer! lol

I have a real distaste for cold callers (sorry Mr Bizz). I don't care if they are trying to sell me newspapers, windows, politics or religion my default response is to tell them to go away.

A window cleaner though, I may not be so angered by the rude interruption to my time off. Although I'd be very surprised that he missed the landys all stikered up on the driveway.

Get a price. Then, ask to see his window cleaning license....

I would ask him a price and his card or leaflet and after that i would say to him: You should go to specsavers,how did you miss my big van in my driveway?

If he was using ladders, I would politely decline and give him my details.  I would then tell him that if he was offered work that he can't do from a ladder, there might be some money in it for him if the work came my way.

Not very entrepreneurial either really. THE entrepreneurial thing to do would be to get your coat, head out canvassing ahead of him while your missus keeps him busy with stupid questions like "will he come in the rain?" or "can I get my windows done every 5 1/2 weeks?"

I would have a chat, ask him how is he doing, and share my experiences with him and wish him/her well. Exactly as I would with any other windy I meet when working.
