microbore or mini bore

I have a spare hozelock reel and was thinking of getting a 100 mts of pole hose and adapting the connections  to suit and using this, thinking of taking on a part time person so this would be a cheap alternative to the micro bore

does anyone do this

After 50Meters of pole hose the shurflo really struggles. Well mine did.

Not sure about 100m of it... but I use 30m on a reel connected to my trolley... it works a treat & has made my life loads easier!

Some will say van mount would be easier still... but I can't see how at the moment!
(Although I also thought the same when people said "work with a higher flow rate!" but I've since seen the light!  )

How does this speed you up is it just the rinsing which is easier?

Also Bob, I used to use pole hose as you are planning to but only around 30 metres before I bought the minibore and am now considering going back to pole hose as it did seem easier. However I am unsure how good it will be as Pure H20 said at longer lengths.

I originally started off in the low 20's to conserve water... but I listened to what people were saying on here, upped the flow & was hovering around the 30 mark. When I did away with the minibore I was able to increase the flow rate again, to around 43, which allowed a good, fast rinse but using roughly the same amount of water, due to the increase in pressure thanks to a reduction of the ID of the hose across its entire length instead of several "step-downs"...

The hose is also far easier to manage!

I have just started working in with 3x100m of pole hose, best thing I have change to for years. One of the lads said he loves it ,the other not that taken by it. As 3 men work out of the van we have lift the hose reels out about 40/50 times a day much lighter save my back

Surely it aint going to be as durable thus costing you more money in the long term  , For instance 100m of pole hose is about £50.00 might last 6 months before become worn and springing a load of pinholes etc .

Gardiners thermobore approx £75.00 mine is still going strong after almost 12 months going to going to turn hose around so it may well last me 2 years plus . Mike

Yes I have taken that in into account IMO if I buy two a year, it's Money well spent if it makes working life better. They pull out and in faster most of the time we can pull them round tyres with no messing about. I am using the new gardiner all season pole hose

Would pole hose not put more strain on the pump having to force water through a smaller id bore, I know you already have the pole hose in the actual pole but to run it pretty much from the pump wouldn't that cause more of a back pressure?

admittedly i use 60 mts of micro bore, so would probably not go any longer than 60 mts of pole hose

I am great fan of john guest fittings and barbs. So use them with pole hose as well.

got me thinking about taking my 8mm microbore off now and putting the £4.50 30 metre gardiner pole hose on as its so easy to wrap up being that thin too!

I used 50 meters of pole hose for 2 years on a reel. Worked great.

The key here is on a "hose reel"

No twists or tangles or anything

But you get punctures. Cars can't run over it and it easily gets holes.

I use 50m of Aquadapta orange pole hose and I love it. Any longer and you start to get pressure problems.
What i've done is put 30m of minibore on the reel and then attach the 50m of pole hose to it (it just slides inside with one O clip to hold it). So i've got 80m in total. Most of my houses never need 50m so I can use the pole hose all day long but if I need more I just reel out the full 80m. I've used the orange hose for about a year and never had any break or leak issues.
My reel is mounted to the floor of the van and the hose is very easy to pull out and wind back.
Also, the hose is so thin that when you open the back door, the hose fits in the tiny gap where the door hinges are. This means that you can use that gap as a hose guide and pull the hose out at any angle quite easily.
I can also shut and lock the back doors on the hose and still use it with no problem.
The hose does tangle but not as much as you'd think and when it does you can just pick the lot up and shake it and it usually comes lose. I recently put 100m of microbore on my reel (just for the hell of it) but went back to pole hose. It could just be that it's what you get used to. If anyone wants pics let me know.

One more point:
If you always used the same pole and brush for every job, you could use the pole hose on the reel and connect it straight through to the brush head. No more connectors to worry about or catch on stuff. If you then want to disconnect your pole you can do it at the brush head...easy!
Forgot to mention that you'd have to use an aquadaptor for the above to make it work.

works fine for me i wrap the hose round the handle on the trolley no tangles.
the bottom of the pole is where i get the all the tangles & knots.
