Has anyone done this?
I clean a few really big properties and decided today I would be quicker with my old trolley.
The hose as we all know gets caught on everything and when the house has a 15/20 metre drive  and you have to get round all 4 sides, its gotta be better with a trolley.

Also would be better for the dog crap houses

And for on site builders cleans when its like a mud bath.

I just need to buy a new pump and controller for it cos I used it for replacement parts

how much water does your trolley hold though ?
I must admit that i like using my backpack for situations such as those you have mentioned and indeed it is quicker, but there is nothing more frustrating than having to work with a lower flow rate so as not to run out of water when the job may require extra scrubbing or rinsing. Because of this reason I prefer to have both and have the option.

Those few really big houses will mean you will be waliking back and forth 2-3 times changing containers .

Their is no way i would go back to trolley it is 2-3 harder graft and more chance of hurting back .

Providing you lay your hose out properly when moving around houses and use the right technique when heading back to truck or van then i am lucky if hose gets snagged once a week . Mike

But Daz I am sure some people use a van mounted tank and bilge pump to refill a trolley or backpack quickly, no need nescessarily to be lugging barrels about.
I am quite intersested in this idea as I maybe inclined to use my backpack more often especially in busy streets or where parking is an issue - i currently fill my backpack via my microbore reel and that can take a good 5 mins !

I use my trolley for about 60% of my work.

I find it easier. Mine is a cheapo Maplins trolley, barrel, with a small pump and small battery on a bit of ply that sits on top held in place with velcro on the barrel and the underside of the wood.

Easy, light and very portable. From pulling up and walking off with trolley and pole in tow, less than 60 seconds.

My pole hose is about 25m with seems to give me a decent distance without having to keep moving the trolley. Over time, I've got to know exactly the best place to put the trolley on larger jobs and how much water I need.

I also only fill 25ltr barrels with about 20ltrs of water. It's makes them easy to carry.

Obviously, not ever job is suited to using a trolley but especially for my work in East London where sometimes you have no choice but to walk a few hundred metres to get to the job, there is no other way.

theres not many houses I use more than one container.
Also its much safer with the trolley,no hoses everywhere.
25 litre containers are light if you cant carry 2 of them at once theres something wrong.
25 litre container and trolley isnt going to break your back.
Backpacks are also great where access is a issue.

That depends on how strong you are, your size, etc, Not everyone is a natural superman and just because someone cannot carry 2 lots of 25ltrs, doesn’t mean something is wrong. My missus works with me sometimes and she cannot carry 20ltr so is there something wrong with her too?

I can carry 2 times 20ltrs but not 2 times 25ltrs. One 20ltr barrel is a doddle.

I'm using the trolley as well now but occasionally attach the hose to it, I can place my hose reel side by side to it and attach straight on if the house is awkward for a trolley

its easier to get a hose to a job than a trolley 90% of the time.even if space is restricted.

It depends on trolley vs backpack hose reel vs just backpack.

I used that setup for nearly 2 years and could really race through work.

I use a bilge pump in my tank and can fill a trolley in 30 secs or less.

I have now gone over to a van mount and have been for a few months.

I cannot see what all the fuss is about with "YOU MUST get a van mount"

If you are running cold then trolley vs backpack/hose reel vs just backpack vs van mount will probably be minutes saved or lost through the day. Not hours!

I have gone to a van mount as a company we are going hot, so needs must but that's not through choice.

I live on the coast and trolleys are more than adequate.
Maybe you need a new brush or scrub harder??

Same here. I've been working all day along the coastline or within wind borne salt distance and some houses today had windows that you could hardly see out from and using a trolley for most of them.

I turn the flow right down very low, give a good scrub, rinse with the flow low, wait for it to drain down or scrub other windows, etc, then rinse with the flow as normal.

I have maybe been using 20-30% more water.

im  slightly slower over the course of a day on 70% of my work
using backpack compared to when i used a van mount.

but i am miles happier,i couldnt stand the microbore the
constant snagging and dragging it through god knows what
