Simply Business no longer insures property/material worked on (ie. glass)

I've been with Simply Business since 2007 or so, and have always been able to get insurance that covers the glass, but no longer, which is a pain.

Any recommendations that do cover what is worked on? I'd rather not risk damaging a £5000+ pane of glass!

Absolutely useless customer service so I wouldn't rely on them.

Takings off all first cleans till march 7th 2014
October  total=  cleaned  extra per month
November = cleaned extra per month
Total £  so far.

I know, crazy right! I've heard of ones double that, but haven't personally cleaned them. This one is big enough, window of a lovely barn conversion .

Just been on the phone for quite a while, different insurers. Waiting to hear back from 2, but AXA so far the best, £116 for 2mil. Compared to £77 for Simply business, without covering property being worked on.

A-Plan came through once again for me. They came back with AXA as well, but then £71, but has £500 excess. Another insurer, who I promptly forgot the name of (  ::)roll ) came through at £84.99, but with £250 excess (that includes the A-Plan broker fee, I'm with their Van insurance as well so nice to have it all under one roof). That particular policy doesn't actually state that property worked on is covered, but it's also not in their exclusions, Simon from A-Plan called them up and they said it is covered up to £250. But will doubly make sure this is in the fine print!

Pays to call around a bit, not my favourite way to spend part of the afternoon but happy I got it sorted.

simply business are just a broker arent they?  i'm with them but i'm actually insured by a different company so surely it varies?

Yup, they came back with two quotes, but they said to me that from now on they can no longer cover me for property worked on.

And they cover for stuff apart from window cleaning, ie gutter cleaning etc,

They use Hiscox

Thanks Alex, I've had a look at them, it was £198 or something. Some people on here seem to have good experiences with them, and like you said they cover other aspects of cleaning as well. Hiscox is great as well, my parents have had insurance with them for many years, always come through. :)

Since I only do windows, and the occasional conservatory/fascia/gutter job this cover is good enough for me and save a bit of £.
