Hello all, ive got two hose reels each with 60m of minibore on them, and they are almost worn out and want to replace them. I use 2 shurflo 5.2l pumps each going to 2 separate flo controllers, then into each reel. Im toying with the idea of buying microbore instead on my already tried & tested minibore because it slimmer, BUT i heard somewhere that it will f*** up the pumps, as they will be under more strain pumping down a thinner diameter?? Is this right??? Whats the pro's & con's between the both hoses? Cheers m

No its not right, ive had the same shureflo pump for 6 1/2 years, using microbore & thermobore

I run two vans and the only pumps I have ever changed have been flow jet and sure flow at nearly 100 pounds each with 6m internal so we thought we would try different we have two pumps from gardiners backpacks and two pumps from Hong Kong at 11 pounds each and I have only ever had a problem with a so called better one,

I have used mini and then microbore on the same pump, still going strong 4.5 years later!

Thanks 4 the above info, im very surprised! as i always thought on advise from a seller that the thinner the hose internal the more it will stress the pump over distance? flow rate etc? Im wonderin now whether anyone just uses qaulity pole hose on their reel?

I have been thinking about that, partly because the last 2 hoses i have bought don't seem to be as durable as before, not sure why?. Just seem to be more prone to wear and tear. Anyone else experienced this?, if not, where do you get your hoses from?

I use Thermobore, had it over 2 years, not a mark on it.

Thanks 4 the above info, im very surprised! as i always thought on advise from a seller that the thinner the hose internal the more it will stress the pump over distance? flow rate etc? Im wonderin now whether anyone just uses qaulity pole hose on their reel?

With a smaller bore the pump will have to work harder than a bigger bore- that's just physics. However, the pumps are more than capable of delivering through 6mm hose. What you may have to bear in mind though is that the pump will draw more amps & require a higher pressure setting for 6mm over 8mm.

  I got mine from cleaning spot and they have lasted 2 years which is good, but they are now starting 2 kink in the first 15/20m - already rotated it. Does anyone recommend a good microbore then? (not bayersan, not good) thanks m

I suppose you mean just adjusting the CAL value on the contollers? I use a 110amp leisure batt and rotate it daily, BUT if buying between the two hoses, what is the one most of windys go for? Cheers m

Basically yes. A pump will require more power to push water down 100m of 6mm hose than the equivalent 8mm.

Personally, I use 8mm but many seem to use 6mm without issue.

I don't use a leisure battery, mine uses the van's own battery (64 Ah)- all day long without issue.

Ive just been looking around the main suppliers, and ive just seen that daqua are doing a 150m of minibore hose 4 £87 all in, i might just get that and cut it in 2!
