Hi People

I have been asked by one of my clients to clean the communal stair case, which has now been carpetted, and place the plastic cover over the carpet.....because they are still building the flats   
I have seen it before, its sticky on one side, and obviously not on the other and must also be slip free for people walking up and down the stairs.

Where would you go for such a product??

While thinking, i will go to Wickes / homebase and have a look there, but any suggestions would be great.

Why on earth did they have the carpet laid before finishing the building work.

Some people just arn't considerate are they?

I'd be interested in the type of sheeting your looking for if anybody comes up with a solution, do you think there might be a commercial supplier for this stuff?

Protec do it, but make sure you get the one for carpets, and not hard floors.

there is an implication about how long it is to be left down for.  as some tack residure may take place if it is down for along time

the other think for walkways and landings is the corrugated 8 x 4 sheets, then taped at the edges.

axiom in bedfordshire may be able to help


why do they put carpets down so early???

cause they sell flats prior to the block being completed, and therefore GREED. its as simple as that.

The corrugated stuff is called cardex and comes in different thicknesses......... The plastic sticky comes in water or oil based glues, make sure it is the water one you use or you will have residue all over the carpet once it is pulled up... Cardex or similar I feel is better as it allows the carpet and sub floor to  breathe easier....accordingly if it is a wool carpet I wouldnt stick anything over it so cardex would have to be used, best, Dave.
