Using post cards to advertise
« on: March 17, 2006, 09:13:00 am »
Has anyone tried using post cards to advertise and if so did you get much response?

I work in an office at the moment and any marketing mail usually gets binned, without being read most of the time.  A lot of the letters are so long winded we just don't have time to read them.

With a post card (mostly) everythings on there and it only takes a glance. Vistaprint.com do 100 for £10.  I'm thinking of using post cards to get some office cleaning.

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance

Ali

Hi,
not sure about the postcard idea but saying that for £10 its not much to lose if it doesnt work.
I get most of my business card etc from vistaprint.
I ordered the letterheaded paper that at the moment is on offer at £25 for 100 sheets and what i do then is copy them on my printer and hey presto a lovely designed letterhead permenantly just for one payment.
Good luckanyway.
Where abouts are you based because if we get any work we cant handle we can possibly throw it your way.

Hi Sarah

Not up and running yet.  I'm in Swansea at the moment, but moving to Cheltenham in two/three months (if we ever sell the house).

How do you copy the letterhead onto your computer.  Do you scan it?

Thanks
Ali

Hi Ali,

I too have used Vistaprint to try out their offer of free business cards and  have just received my postcards too which only cost me p&p ! they are fabulous and i have incorporated a special offer deal on the postcards to leave when i clean regular customers so they can introduce family and friends to my cleaning services !!

I can tell, from my own experience, it is a good form of advertising as long as you are inexpensive, when you raise your prices up shop windows ads do not bring you new clients.

I agree with Arthur, when you are under £12 its a good route, if you want to charge more you need to look at how you market yourself, My marketing expenditure is quite high but it attracts the right client, thus I am able to charge more.

Thanks for all your opinions.

I was looking more at mailing them to offices in my area rather than sending out letters,  because most marketing letters in our office get binned unless they're of interest.  I though that maybe a postcard would catch someone's eye more than a letter??

Do you get much of a response from letters?

I'm not one for 'in your face' marketing and wondered whether a postcard would  be more of a 'softly softly' approach.

(Am i making sense, I hope I am.. waffle waffle)

I am taking everything on board and love reading your comments.

Thanks again

Ali

P.S.  Lynn I'll definiely take you up on your offer soon.  I'll try and give you a call this week.

What I have done before now is look up a well known internet telephone directory, look say for Dentist in your area copy and paste email addresses collate a list make an email up that personalised it from you to a dentist and send a block email keep the list on outlook and mail them out once a month or so, keep lists for doctors surgeries all sorts, its time consuming to build your lists but once you have them the rest is easy I have only targeted Dentists about 15 to 20 and secured one from it so it does work. I just don't have the staff for night jobs and can't get staff to do them, so it’s on hold for me right now regards Phil
