Hi not window cleaning issue as such but just bought a palm tx pda off of ebay to run pocket george as i broke my last one and it came brand new boxed and sealed but it wont work unless the mains charger is switched on and plugged in. so not a lot of use to me really

as soon as I unplug it, it switches off and wont switch on unless plugged in to mains charger again. It wont even switch on with usb only connected.

I have had on charge for 12 hours but still the same.


Has anyone else had the same problem with a new or used palm tx?

Haven't had this problem, but sounds like the battery isn't being charged, faulty or disconnected.

The charger will be supplying enough charge to run to PDA, but the USB won't.

I would look at returning it to its previous owner and getting your money back.

Do a search on the internet to see how difficult it is to replace the battery.

I choose to replace my Zire31 as the battery wasn't holding a charge and got an E2 in perfect condition for £9.50 plus post and packaging. The Palm cost less than a replacement battery for my Zire31 which needed soldering in.

Press the reset button on the back of it(its in the middle)you'll have to use a pen.should work fine then.

the PALM TX had well known problems with the on button not working.im almost sure yours will work fine if you press the reset button on the back.it will re boot it but not delete pocket george if you have it already installed on it.

Thanks all ill give it a shot at reset later. My new pda only cost 16.00 plus postage so cheap so if I have to buy a new battery its still ok. I may try old battery from old pda and put that one in as it holds a charge ok.

I bought one off ebay brand new boxed etc, worked fine on the cradle but like yours didn't work off the cradle. Bought a battery off ebay and fitted it, easy to do and its worked fine ever since.  They are probably quite old now and if the battery hasn't been used its probably duff. hope this helps.

Yes I am sure now that is the problem. Try New battery first then thanks.
