With wind speeds increasing, At what speed would you draw the line at using ladders?

There are plenty of trad guy's still using ladders so regarding wind is just a matter of using your common sense. Ali ladders are lighter to use but also are easier to be blown over in gusts of wind.

Myself like many others over the years have converted over to wfp as is safer method. Some trad guy's use poles now for tops. So as a cheaper option instead of going wfp might be worth you considering learning to trad by pole instead of using a ladder.

Whatever methods be it trad, wfp or internal pad systems are just tools a window cleaner has at his disposal and is a personal choice which one they find most suited to the task.

When I worked off of ladders, the best thing I found were ladder mitts.
Much more lateral grip resulting in feeling that bit safer working in windier conditions... obviously there are limits though!

I remember using ladders in my younger days, and used to panic when at the top of the ladder when it was gusty,
once it was so windy I just jumped off into a a bush

if you work off ladders daily you know by instinct what the limits are


 by the way ,ladder using window cleaners  are still  the majority of window cleaners

Still use ladders for access on flat roofs for commercial only. Thank goodness for WFP so don't have to worry about positioning ladder in window frame recesses anymore on domestics on windy days and having to fit stabilisers and rubber mats

It's been a bit blowy here this week. I had a higher than usual gutter clean to do this week which I had to postpone for very obvious reasons, but was able to carry on doing windows. I have a pair of thick rubber gloves which I use as ladder mitts, and with these on I can jam the ladder under the fascia boards and work away safely enough.   

I don't have the ability to measure wind speed, so I use my own judgement to discern if it is viable to continue or not.
