Just been using my 3 week old Ionic 40ft Glyder pole with Ionics domestic brush and an Unger aluminium gooseneck, and its just snapped at the final section where the gooseneck screws on NOT HAPPY!! Rang Ionics and they've said it's my fault, I'm using the wrong type of gooseneck and its putting too pressure on the end of the pole, hence why its snapped, they said its only designed for an angled adaptor??? As most will know, you don't stand a chance of getting a lot of windows with deep sills with a cranked neck, you need a gooseneck!!

What would you say??? £444 is a lot to spend for it to break within 3 weeks!!!!

Looks as if you specialise in commercial anyway - why didn't you go for the commercial head?

Anyway as a thought I have a s/hand 40' Glyder in ok condition although sections 4+5 are stuck together. If you want to make an offer for it for spare parts etc just email me. I'm going to go for an Extreme next year so I'm gonna replace it anyhow...

Yeah, in hindsight, maybe the commercial head would of made more sense, didn't bother because I planned on using my Gardiners commercial brush!! I'll email you about the pole now.

Hate ionics stuff and to bloody expensive. Doesn't state you can't use different gooseneck, tell erm and say if you don't change it ill put the word around on ciu. Should of bought pole off Gardiners Alex

Did you put the goose neck on there your self?

£444 for a pole that 'aint even strong enough to accommodate a goose neck?

I tested Facelift Gardiners and Ionics poles recently, I was surprised how poor the quality of the Ionics one was - especially as it was the most expensive like for like pole I tested.

I've been using Facelift poles with Gardiners brushes since last year and TBH, when I first used the Ionics pole, I wasn't overly impressed, although it felt stiffer than my Facelift pole, It did also feel heavier. I went with Ionics was because my current pole wasn't long enough for a job I was doing and I needed one the same day, Swindon was only an hour from where I was working, hence my decision, otherwise it would of been Gardiners all the way!

By buying something for WFP cleaning youve made it clear by implication that its going to be used for wfp cleaning.  Its reasonable to put another persons gooseneck on top of the pole unless they have warned you otherwise.  If they didnt say that you can only use an angled adapter then you could easily argue that they owe you a replacement section.

That's what I thought they would offer to do, replacing the section seems only right to me?!
Certainly don't remember being told that the pole would possibly break if I used a different gooseneck!

Unger goosenecks are heavy, Ionics commercial gooseneck is light but the brush is heavy yet scrubs very well. Good for initial cleans as scrubs very thoroughly with minimal effort as there brush is compact with bristles.

I've got an ionics poles and it came with no literature stating anything about what can or can't be used and neither was anything said about only using an angle adapter.

So are ionics saying that if a section snaps, then it's always the o/p's fault because they could say 'to heavy' to any gooseneck, carbon fibre or not?

My impression of the pole was poor, it looked & felt cheap, like some "off the shelf" mass produced generic pole with an Ionic badge on it! Wasn't impressed at all.

That is a work of art and the best pole ever made. Bar none.

Overall impressions don't sound too good! I don't think it's a bad pole but never really spent much time with a Gardiners or the new Phoenix to compare!

Probably.

I dont know the pole but if it offers a standard sized thread at the end it's reasonable to assume that a sensible amount of WFP equipment will be hung off the end of it.  It's then reasonable to assume that the pole will stand the weight.  A goose neck is pretty standard kit, wherever it might come from.

Im not a lawyer but it seems to me that you have a case for complaining and forcing the issue.
