If you had enough money not to have to got to work - would you still go out and do window cleaning?


Some of you may already be in that position, if you won a small fortune on the lottery not millions but a few hundred grand or something, would you still go out and do a bit maybe not 4 weekly but 6 or 8 weekly and chill out a bit or think stuff it?

How many of us do this job because we need the money? And how many of us would carry on cleaning?

Policing is one of my passions Daz but unfortunately it doesn't pay. I've been in the police for 9 years now and most of my mates who're involved in it full time want out. I'm happy playing along in my special constable role and meeting up with them and listening to their woes over a beer.

I'd still work, probably.
I don't mind doing it and if I can do it, it's a good thing. There might come a day when we think 'I wish I could still clean windows'.

I think I would but it'd be a cherry picked few.

As for policing doesn't pay.... coppers are hardly on the minimum wage. I do the windows of two coppers and they don't seem so badly off money wise.

I also do the windows of a customs officer and I'm amazed at how many holidays she goes on and being able to buy a new car every two years but she frequently tells me how she's not paid enough.

one of my customers is a customs officer too , he appears to be minted.

Dean doesn't get paid as he is a special c*ntsable 

If you get promoted the monay is not bad in the police , hours are crap though and everyone hates you .

a few hundred grand wouldnt last you long if you stopped working so id carry on window cleaning albeit part time say 3 days a week and spend more time helping alcoholics stay sober which is very valuable work.

i would keep my best paying and nicest 100 customers and just work 2 easy days a week, the rest of the week I would waste on here

I don't need to go to work - this is my hobby. I have thought about just stretching out on the beach in Barbados but I'd much rather paddle about in dog excrement all day in near freezing temperatures.

I could stay a home now but hate it' plus I like being active' if I won money I might let the window cleaning run its self while I spend my time restoring classic cars. That's my passion

The funny thing is, when I first logged on here the inpact43 eejits tried to question my methods and what was/wasn't safe working practice.
I got told a few times I was wrong.
I was teaching H&S at the time.
And had a 98% pass rate across all of my students.
Funny old world.

That's why some of us were arguing against them with regard to their interpretation of Health & Safety regulations.
Impact not surprisingly were forcing their own perspective on some things and telling everyone else who challenged their opinion that we were working illegally.
Anyway no point going back over old ground as you are one of those who is obviously very qualified and experienced.
Good luck if you ever go back to teaching, the jobs unfortunately are not in the construction industry like they once were but as a country I believe we have to keep teaching people otherwise this country is screwed.

if i won a few hundred grand it would be gone after getting a nice house and car - and leaving some in bank .
so yeh id carry on cleaning - but would be financially secure and probably have more time off !!!

From memory I didn't really push my point-I was just happy knowing I was right and they were blagging.

These things are cyclic bud.
Construction is creeping back up.
The population is growing-those people need somewhere to live.
Chippies round here were doing £150-£180 a day.
At it worst the same boys were on £100-£120.
They're now on £120-£150 so it's not all bad.
It'll come...
