Always had the wcw backpack, see that they now have a new backpack 22 litres. Anyone got one of these and are they any good.
Need a spare as mine is prone to breakdowns now.

I would avoid the big boy backpack. We have four and all have gone wrong. And I know countless people with the same issues.

I always disagreed. But I have to say they are all Chinese crap now. The original WCW one was good.

For price and service I would say go with the Gardiner one.

Using it now and it's been ok.

I have the gardiner  no probs had it about a year. Does empty pretty quick though even on the lowest setting. May be I should work quicker lol

Yep fully aware of the internals are the same.

It's not your fault it's seems to be a "batch"

Constant problems with pumps not producing pressure and then controller boards actually catching fire.

The gardener back pack uses all the same internals it looks like.

We did contact the supplier and we received the parts to fix two of them. The others were out of warranty.

Tbh we have given up on back packs now. They are too unreliable

Yeah sure, me personally i use my "backpack" twice a week now. Its a trolley system, but it is actually just a backpack.

Still have one van (dads) who ONLY uses his trolley system

i use ws packs..simple,easy to put right when go wrong
and all packs will breakdown.

if using as your main tool dont buy shurflo they are poope
i use a pack 5-6 hours everyday within months the shuflo pcb
brokedown the pack itself split and the pump is pathetic.

when it goes wrong parts are also more expensive than others

Well we run between 4 and 8 back packs. As we use them for other tasks. (still delivering water)

The one on my van, has not been pimped It is just a BB back pack and thats it.

The issues we have had are......

Pump wont produce any pressure

Pump gets very noisy, then fails.

Front half of pump fails

Rear Half of Pump fails

PCB controlling the speed of pump fails (caught fire and burnt out)

Constant air locks on one pump.

To me it looks like the pump is the total issue in these!

Yes it sounds like a pump is issue! Are you using the hose reel with each backpack, or extra hose?

Two non extra hose original WCW 18 L

Only the original WCW have never failed (apart from batteries)

just bought a wcw big boy backpack - not impressed with it - I had it delivered tuesday, but there was a problem, the pressure switch didn't switch the pump off when the flow rate was turned down below 3/4 and the pole tap was closed, so the pump just keeps trying to pump and emits a high pitched whine (above 3/4 and it seems to work fine, but uses loads of water) excellent service from wcw saw a replacement delivered yesterday and the faulty one taken back - sadly, the replacement is the same

same here had mine for about 3 years and no probs  been a good bit of kit
