Hello,

I have a lad working for me hes is brilliant with customers. Always shuts the gate and scrubs frames etc. but he is making some mistakes using wfp resulting with spotting.

I have showed him how to do it but not good at explaining at all i just dont thinj he understands the concept. When i started wfp it just clicked one day and i can clean windows with no spotting 99% of the time.

Any help would be appreciated as i would love to let him go out on his own but just dont think i could yet as i do have to correct his mistakes at times.

What's there too teach , it's pretty simple

show him how you do it, let him try, if he gets it wrong, show again, then repeat till he gets it, make it light hearted and that youre not having a go, he will pick it up given the chance and time

Its not rocket science lol. Scrub the window well then rinse it.

Turn flow down abit getting him to do a good rinse, tell him not to concentrate on frames as much (if there already clean)
After cleaning the entire windows tell him to try rinsing about half a cm from the top of the glass so theres less chance off anything running from the seal.

It takes about 3-6 months to fully train someone to work alone! Theres so many different kinds of windows and he will need to look for the warning signs of a leaky seal

Try carrot and stick....

1st Fortnight:

Carrot - two weeks and no complaints -  give him a bonus

Stick - two weeks and any complaints  - dock him half the fee of that custy

2nd Fortnight:

Carrot - two weeks no complaint - keeps his job

Stick - two weeks and one complaint - Good Night Gracie!

See how quick he learns then!

the method is relatively simple..but to know the windows on
your round with wfp can take a few cleans or a few months
problem windows etc

My uncle has 3 lads working for him and he trains them for a minimum of 3 months until their ready to work without him their!
Its not so much the technique, its looking for warning signs or leaky seals, or them hard to see bird spots, how to keep checking were you stepping when cleaning to make sure you dont fall.... The list goes on

my son in law worked with me, 28, and he couldn't get the hang of it, everything spotted.

Its a bit like Marching in the army, some people have a rhythm some tense up and cant do a simple walk in time with arms swinging , ashley was the same he looked like a robot just didnt get the concept of rinsing

I had a fella with me for a day once.
He was wfp'ing tops and I was tradding the bottom windows.
We used more water that day than if I had been doing all the windows myself and took longer.
I noticed some windows were not done properly so had to tell him to do them again.  
The point im making is that some people see you using a wfp and think you are somehow not doing it "the proper way" and cheating.
Yes it's not hard to pick it up but there is a technique and some people do struggle to get it right.
