Advice on vans.......
« on: December 04, 2013, 05:57:44 pm »
Looking at another van but just so undecided.

What are the issues with a ford transit. Looking at 2009 - 2012 model. Is it just rust?

I was dead keen on the vivaro but seen to many stories online.

I know every van will have issues, but just seems to be a tad more with the vivaro.

Waiting for the " I have a vivaro and its fine lol"

Anything i have over looked. Transit - Vivaro - T5

???

I have the Trafic. 2nd one. And it's been great.
Last one was perfect up to 90k-issues after that though tbh.

If I could afford it-hands down the Transporter Sportline 180.
What a beauty.

I had the traffic really good van but as you say there's someone out there that have had problems with. I've now got the new transit custom trend, really good van to can't go wrong with a ford as parts are there on the shelf. The only thing with the foreign vans parts can take time to get. VW are good van to. Had a Scudo wouldn't rate it not the 5 speed and customer service crap.ind you the traffic, Vauxhall & Nissan are exactly the same I'd go for the Nissan think there cheaper with more extras !!! Scudo, Peugeot & Citreon are the same but would stay clear of them. Personally I'd go for a transit my Opinion. 👳👳👳

Hmmmmmm

problem is 10k will get me an 90 -110K vw t5 2008-2009 I don't think that makes good business sense.

2009 transit with 30k would be 9k or less!

I think i am looking at the transit, just wondered if they are bad for wfp?

we do have a transit but she is old bless her lol

As far as I can see, I think the Toyota Hiace comes out fairly reliable. Check out the reviews

Hmmmm could look at that I guess.

Got fed up with jumping through hoops on leasing. Coz of the mods I have planned. So sod it not leasing now.

It's just for work tho, but yeah could do down to ford again.

we ran over 25  vans when doing the dhl, city link . work and we never looked back buying new vans ,ok there not cheap but try keeping an old van on the road and paying people to do it let alone the down time its a night mare

save as much as you can for the deposit lowering monthly payments , get a bank loan rather then h.p its cheaper even better if your family can lend you it ,

get on the net there 1000s of dealers wanting to do you a deal so if you have the time there are some good deals to be had , and this months the best time to buy a van most dealers are sat looking at the xmas trees

Buying new is like double the money I have lol, I will
Enquire at Ford.

New vivaro is out next year along with T6 so wouldn't go new route on either of them.

I have an 06 transit with 39k on the clock.
Great van, to avoid the rust get the floor, sills, chassis, wheel arches under sealed with waterproof waxy oil and jobs a good one.

do you do a lot of miles in your van mate?

my work is mainly within 6 miles.very compact ive also got a 2.5 v6 car for leisure so i dont see the point in buying new.

i do 2500-3000 a year in my van.its a kangoo and cost me £1400 nearly 4 years ago and now has 140,000 miles on the clock.ive spent hardly anything on it apart from new clutch, cambelt and back axle.spent about £700 in 4 years on it.

its been a great little van but need a bigger one next year.

i just dont wanna spend big on a van for work.id rather go on holiday and dine out in fancy restaurants!! ;D
price higher/work harder!

Less than 10,000 miles a year inc personal mileage. I am moving next year tho to be within my round, so mileage could be as low as 5000 a year :)

I would suggest the toyota hi-ace, you have a choice of the 300 (lwb), which has a payload of over 1200kg, and the 280 (swb), most versions have a 1135kg payload. The reliability is legendary (bear in mind, the hi-ace is mechanically nearly identical to the hi-lux pickup they unsuccessfully tried to 'kill' on top gear!). Usefully narrower than transit/vivaro, and rear wheel drive gives good traction without the very high load floor of rear drive transits.
