Payatrada card system
« on: December 01, 2013, 09:33:51 am »
Hi has anyone had experience of the Payatrader card system and thoughts on whether this system has its uses for window cleaning customer payments or is it just not worth bothering with.  ???

We used the Payatrader chip/pin terminals in our vans and we never got on with it. Reception was not good in places out of town.

In town it was easy to use and customers liked it. We still use Payatrader but only on our website.

Ask to trial one, customer service is excellent.

Can't see why anyone would want to pay a joining fee of £99 and over 2% per transaction when there's much cheaper options available.

Costs have to be covered from revenue, as with any overhead. Payatrada, if 2% is not a bad cost - if they won't BACS payment to you. Also it improves cashflow. Not sure if everyone will be comfortable with it - depends on the age profile of your custies. They also have to be in. If there is mobile coverage then it's fine, but I'm rural.

On payments generally i've moved all my PayPal custies to BACS - saving the PayPal commission (BACS is free) or the cost of an SAE. Also PayPal takes 3 days to credit your account. An SAE is cheaper than PayPal over about £15 or so.

We accept BACS, cheque, standing order, direct debit, Paypal, Pingit and of course cash. We are trying to phase out Paypal because it's the most expensive.

I have all those as well, but charge an extra £1 if they pay via PayPal - that covers the fee in most cases. No-one has complained about the extra fees so it seems to be well accepted.
