Rubber Flooring Like Cork ?
« on: November 27, 2013, 08:18:23 pm »
Hi Guys

Done a carpet in a hotel and they asked me to look at a rubber floor around a swimming pool that the builders had left in a right mess. Any advice on best way to clean what's needed and rough price guide ?

Thanks Phil.

I've never cleaned the stuff Phil, best idea is to do a test area.
Don't use too aggressive a pad or brush until you have established the strength of the surface rubber.
If the test is successful then I would charge decent money to clean it, as you are the expert who can solve their problem.

Is it like the stuff they use in kids playgrounds? more like a safety floor?

It is exactly what you describe a rubber crumb floor.  It is used quite widely and relatively easy to clean.  Do a test in a small area.  Firstly dry Vacuum if there is evidence of loose debris then Pre wet with clean water then firstly pre spraywith a pH Neutral cleaner and then a gently scrub with a slow speed rotary and either a soft or soft to medium brush see which works best then rinse with clean water vacuum rinse again and vacuum.  You will find round pools this stuff is fast draining.  If it is really filthy and the pH neutral has not done much you will need to use a high alkaline diluted 4:1 again pre sprayed with a longer dwell time.  The test will tell you what is best.  It is along time since we did one round a pool the last one we did was in a Hi-Fi area of a department store.
