Vehicle insurance
« on: November 06, 2013, 06:46:15 pm »
Does anyone have fleet insurance for a car and their van?

I've got two separate quotes one car insurance and one van insurance.

Is it more cost effective to have both on fleet insurance?

I have my 2 vans which are in my name and my wifes car which is in her name on a multi vehicle policy with Aviva, I got a further discount as I have a life policy with them as well.

Vans and cars should be on a different policy as van
Is commercial Insurance. Just incase you may be full comp on van and you think you can drive a car third party as you think your covered you won't be !!!! Commercial insurance is different to car insurance  😁😳😜

Tanks have always been the issue.

I've just got the car insured with Aviva and as per usual got a marketing call asking if I would consider a multi vehicle policy with them for my van. As the van isn't due for insurance renewal yet I didn't ask about their limit on tank size. Mine is a 650 litre unit whereas 500 litre seems to be the max other insurance companies will go to.

I'm also concerned about what the impact of having a multi vehicle policy on the other car insured (mine) if one of the vehicles was involved in a claim even although my no claims bonus is insured. (I'm aware that having a no claims bonus insured doesn't mean that the following years insurance wouldn't go up because of the new risk factor.)

Thanks Franky. I had even considered putting in a 500 litre tank to give me some more options.

Yes I have fully comp commercial vehicle insurance (van).
And have been told that it does not cover me to drive a car (third party cover) on the same policy.
Other policies might be different though.

They did wobble on a 750 tank. But we have full invoice and it's a crash tank. So they were ok.

Never battered an eye lid on 350/500
Tanks.

Also sign writing and racking/boarding lowered premiums.

This is Aviva I am talking about :)

If one insures through MoreThan.
They don't ask tank size.
I don't use them, just thought someone might be interested.

I have 3 motors on the multi policy, two vans belonging to me and a car belonging to my wife, you get three different insurance certificates, one for each vehicle, I am a named driver on my wifes car so am fully comp to drive it.

The cheapest for van insurance I found this year was Adrian flux with a bolted 650L tank
