Looking at all this rain water and the recent posts about harvesting.
Number crunching the accounts on a rainy afternoon.
Since I started recording my resin costs (4 bags)
I have earned about £27000
and spent about
£300 on resin.
Round about 1%
No RO Double DI
Tap TDS has varied in this time from 85 to 149 to 97
It's not really that much.
That sound about right?

If your TDS is 85 -149 their is no way i would be DI only i would be going RO . Mike

op - are you on a water meter ?

If your not its a no brainer really , an ro would save you money and pay for itself fairly quickly .

If your on a meter the sums may be closer together though.

I'm on a meter I'm not sure with the extra cost of waste water and the replacement filters and cost for the RO whether it would be worth it.
This way is a lot simpler albeit more expensive but at 1% of my turnover I don't think it is a massive cost when compared to diesel and van costs etc...

I think its probably borderline for you and for simplicity I would stick with d.i.

Worth looking into rain harvesting if you have the space as that would save you money.

I really can't believe what I'm reading!!

£300 per year on resin & people are advising he should go with an RO?? IT'S NOT EVEN BORDERLINE-NOWHERE NEAR IN-FACT!!

Are you guys for real or just have no idea what a twin DI system is & it's massive benefits of speed & simplicity over any RO, any day?

STICK WITH YOUR TWIN DI SYSTEM MATE, UNTIL YOU'RE USING AT LEAST DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF RESIN YOU CURRENTLY ARE!!

Can't believe it , I actually agree with every word Wimpo says  .my tap water goes from 75 to 130 .big mistake when I started was prattling about with an ro .double di costs me 5 sacks of resin a year .£350 . Simple and easy

Thought it wasn't too bad.  Fill tank with tap water filter on the way out.
I've got several commercial flats with water on site so can drive there empty and fill up on demand.
Fill up at custies on the way round too.
It is a great system for simplicity and convenience so that helps justify the cost.
No IBC storage, freezing RO, transfer pumps, no running out of pure water during the day.

I run the same system, couldn't be any simpler

i love the fact im DI only.i wouldnt have the room for an RO/IBC tank.i use 3 bags of resin a year tops so about £200 a year.i use double DI as well when my a single resin vessel starts to rise.my tap tds is usually 30-35 but sometimes rises to 100 tds in drier months.

If I could only use double DI....I would!
Unfortunately tap tds is too high (280ppm) to make it a sensible option.

I cant use ddi because of the hight TDS (270)  I have to use a RO and DI into a ICB tank. But my resin cost is about £90 a year.
