the skyvac poles seem an awful high price, any cheaper budget poles which maybe a bit heavier but as good?

try gutter sucker....same company but cheaper stuff.....

thanks poleman but its still the complete package, ive found a nilfish 1800w 30t for 113 pounds nd im looking for oles to go with ? any ideas

You buy the poles from them on there own, and a 1800w vac will restrict you height you can go to becouse it wont be powerful enough

You neex to look at the suction specs of the vac rather than the wattage , the nilfisk has very high suction for an 1800 watt machine and is better than some higher wattage ones .

Hi everybody, ive been too busy working and with the family to come on here and post recently, but this is an interesting thread!

Ive been looking at investing in a gutter vac for a while now as im still doing it from ladders! ???
I know, im wfp too! so why risk things? ???

Im taking on board what everybodys said, and understand for obvious reasons carbon over alloy poles and more powerful vacs etc etc.

BUT, just for normal houses and to  reach over conservatories for now what would be a relative compromise as to paying a few grand to start me off?

Cheers in advance!

Anybody?  ???

Just get a small loan and buy the equipment right away.  this is the time of year whe you should start raking in money on gutter clearing so you'll easily make the repayments.

i would personally recomend the grippavac equipment.  get 3 poles at least.  if you want to save money you could not a get a generator and just use the home owner's electricity i suppose.  i wouldnt want the bother of having to wait in for those people who have gone out...  but if you cant get a loan that may be an option

I'm no expert on the gutter vac's or any of the kits/systems mentioned, but ive just put myself together a kit.

Got given this companies details - http://www.carbonfibretubes.co.uk/about.html#contact
Got 5, 2m/50mm tubes from them, cheaper than any gutter cleaning supplier. Carbon, modular and cheap.

Got a wetvac from Kev Martin on the hard floor section of this site. triple motor, 3000w.

Got all my other bits and bobs from ebay. Bend, nozzles, clamps, wireless camera etc..

Got 7.5m of 51mm vac hose and some cuffs from polarbrite.

All in it was just under a grand.

you can probably get a kit already put together for cheaper, but the skyvac kits are over a grand, and the ones under a grand, i just wasnt sure about the vacs.

I already have a generator, so keep that in mind as an extra cost if you dont already own one.

Tom,

Give them a call, the guy was very helpful. They are cheaper than any carbon pole kits I've found, and i searched for a while. They come in 2m lengths too, most of the skyvac etc.. only come in 1.5m

The weight is an issue when you are having to reach over a conny or extension , the alloy poles become quite unwieldy.

Working straight up on a two storey not a problem .

For me for domestics up to three story(ground /first/second) grippavac poles and the 1800 nilfisk is ideal i think.

I have the alloy poles but will be upgrading to carbon as soon as i can afford it.

The nilfisk vac is about 113 in machine mart , you could upgrade the hose to 51 mm , grippa poles 4 would be 480.

so your set up for around 650-700 .

I got my generator (suzuki) on ebay second hand for £80 in very good condition and always starts and runs reliably .

The beauty of the nilfisk is that you dont need a huge generator but it still has excellent suction , perfect for domestics and some lighter commercial work.
