Im having some real problems with the new controller I've had the old v2's for years until lately when one just stopped working, now we have one of the new digital ones, it took some getting used to as it has a slow startup to get to the pressure then when you stop it slows down gently until pressure is reached ok now I'm fine with that but where we are having trouble is, is with the "pressure settings" we don't seem to be able to strike a happy medium between having a high pressure setting ( currently set to "d" ) and being able to have a good flow rate without it cutting out due to the pressure being reached, it seems to us that a flow rate of "3" is too slow and "4" causes an increase in pressure which then shuts off the pump.

Our setup hasn't changed at all we have a surflow  1.4gpm pump and 100m of 6mm id microwbore hose.

Anyone else have any troubles with this or is it just us?

Increase the pressure setting a couple of notches.

Once you increased those pressure settings did you switch the pump off to set them?

I have found the best way to set it up is to put the speed on 5 and then press the + and - together for 3 sec until it starts to flash, push them both in again and once the letters come up you can go up a couple of steps until the unit stop cycling, then switch off.

If it isn't working, then I would consider a call to Williamsons. They have a pretty good technical dept who will talk you through it. You may even have to send it back.

The water is now much colder in the tank so we have had to increase our water pressure. We use minibore hose though rather than microbore.

But my mate uses microbore with the same setup and he doesn't have a problem.

I can't answer your question but I also use the latest version Varistream set to '4' which to me is too fast but a '3' is too slow. It's a shame the settings aren't more refined such as a setting in between in '.5' increments.

Today I have given the battery a good charge overnight and this morning it still seems to play up but also have noticed that our water heaters are set to min water flow turning them to max flow has helped the situation will have to see how it goes for the rest of the day

Although the VS is not one we produce. I would agree with Spruce that it is a calibration issue. The fact you have turned up the flow from the heater also points to calibration.

As ambient air temp falls it will impact on the viscosity of the water. (Colder water flows slower) Also the way the hose walls expand will have an impact on both pressure and water flow.

It could also be something as daft as dirt or grit in the brush jets or a blocked pump filter.

I tried disconnecting the heaters and this allowed the pump to run at full speed without the pressure cutting it off, strangely enough connecting the heater again afterwards it now runs ok with no problems
