Ground floor window sills
« on: September 26, 2013, 05:39:06 pm »
When poling ground floor windows, do you clean the window sills:
Just with a brush
Just with a cloth
With a brush and then finish with a cloth?

litrally takes 30 seconds to quickly do it... say you do 20 houses in a day, cleaning the ledges with a cloth would only add 10mins onto your full day :o I only do the downstairs ones

I always wipe ground floor sills with a cloth as it takes no time and customers often comment on how nice it is to see a window cleaner who still cleans sills. I know it is not needed but customers like it so I am happy to keep doing this.

Customer home; feeling I've been a fraction too quick? A fast wipe over of the fronts with my pole hose towel between ringing the bell and waiting for them to come to the door.

Customer not home; nope! - Unless a bit of dirty water or line of grit has run out onto the cill.
It's a game of three halves!

I just clean cills with the brush, but if I've cleaned the front door I always wipe it down otherwise it will drip on their carpet when they open it to pay me!
Im not scared of heights, just falling from them.

i got a new customer from a neighbour i do.        she owes 2 cleans,  windows only,   i always give the sill a wipe over.      front   i charge £3 per 2 wkly.       £3.50 4wkly.         her neighbour said she wasnt very happy ,  i asked why.        she told me she was expecting all frames       and door    and ledge      to be cleaned.
i told neighbour     i only quoted for window clean.        all the rest are xtras i could add on  for ££.  door and frame.

I don't take on any job under £5.00 now that means they get a good job done even if its only 3 windows and a door!

I quickly blade off the excess water & give them a quick wipe with a microfibre cloth...
if the easily inspected sills are spotless the custies are less likely to check the others by hanging out of the upstairs windows!  ;D
