Facelift Phoenix poles
« on: September 01, 2013, 07:43:52 pm »
I know most on here arse lick Gardiners but I really don't like the sideways clamps, I find them fiddley and pointless.
Having looked at the Phoenix range I like the look of the clamps so I wondered if anyone has used these and if there's any good feedback from them?

We have been trialling an slx 22 and a Phoenix pro 22. 2 weeks in the Phoenix is edging it (not much in it to he fair) , mainly due to the clamps although we have changed the head on the slx as the one I bought with it wasn't right.

Whats the weight and the closed length like on the Phoenix?
And how do they compare price wise?
Do you get a brush or gooseneck with the Phoenix's?

I couldn't work with normal clamps now, I find the transverse clamps SO much better!!

Each to their own. ;)

No goose neck. The price is pretty much the same as is weight an closed length.

The SLX is full carbon whereas the Phoenix Pro is composite, this may effect longevity, time will tell.

How I can flick it open with my thumb then flick it closed with a little finger. Even in difficult circumstances they are still easily opened & closed. I used to have a original Facelift carbon pole & while the clamps were of good quality I find the transverse ones much easier to operate in a real world environment.

Hi HWC

I did ask you to email me on alex@agardiner.co.uk regarding the clamps and some issues you were having - I cannot recall getting an email from you - did you send it?

Sorry Alex, I just prefer the other style clamps, love the pole and brush other than the clamps though

That's fine - but on a previous thread it seemed that you were having an issue with keeping the clamp tight and correctly adjusted. If this is still the problem then this can be sorted out, which would be a good thing.

If this is the case then email me your details and I can get on to fixing this issue.

Pheonix pro22 is a cracking pole its not as good as the slx but defo better than the clx22 main reason being how rigid it is considering its a composit pole! The pro is defo value for money. Cant say i have a problem with either clamps on pheonix or gardiners poles.
has to be the extreme next though as by the sounds of it that pole is in a different league!.

Yes the clamps seem to become loose quite often and it makes the sections spin.
Also the levers have too much sideways movement so keep spinning and need to be re positioned.
My email is advanced_window_cleaning@yahoo.co.uk if you have any advice you can send me, thanks

I've been very critical of the gardiners clamps on here in the past but I have to say the new clamps are a great improvement don't think there is a better pole out there than the slx with an extreme brush on it.

This is interesting as the Phoenix Pro is the alternative to the CLX (they are both composite Carbon) where the Phoenix X range is the SLX alternative, if the Pro holds up too an SLX comparison, (composite against a full carbon) this great news!

The lads have used the poles for 2 weeks, they will be swapping for the next fortnight.

Soupy, how are they finding the rigidity in both the poles? Are they comparable? Is one faster than the other to use? Love to hear your thoughts.

Really? I have never used a clx. I went for the pro v slx as they were similarly priced.

I would say that as far as bendyness goes the pro is bendier but not by much.
