I cleaned a glass roof on Friday with pure and a bit of wahing up liquid.

Anyway, when I had finished there appeared to be lots of small white marks all over it, plus at the back, near the wall at the back, after drying several large white patches.. like limescale. Also, a couple of the panels didn't dry clear. It was hard work and took perhaps 2 hours. The people have just moved in so I don't know when it was last cleaned.

I have seen once before small white marks and no amount of brushing seems to get rid, but wiping with a cloth does.

I am going back tomorrow morning as I got a message to say "disappointed".

Any help/suggestions please?

White Patches could be marks from the lead- usually tell custies ita from not cleaning the roof very often- will be a few hundred quid to sort seems to keep em quiet. 

As for white marks have u tried applicator & blade them off?

Ok. I will need to buy a trad pole to sort it then. Do all con roofs have lead. This one has UPVC thing along the back. Will there be flashing underneath?

When you quote a con roof ALWAYS, tell them it is a ROOF, not a window, and as such, you can  ONLY clean off the dirt , and CANNOT guarantee removal of ANY stains ect
You then cover yourself for custys that expect to much. By the way I agree that it is probably from lead, if it is forget it you will never remove that, and should not expect to.
You can only clean, what will clean. No more no less. 2hrs crikey how much time can you allow.

When you quote a con roof ALWAYS, tell them it is a ROOF, not a window, and as such, you can  ONLY clean off the dirt , and CANNOT guarantee removal of ANY stains ect
You then cover yourself for custys that expect to much. By the way I agree that it is probably from lead, if it is forget it you will never remove that, and should not expect to.
You can only clean, what will clean. No more no less. 2hrs crikey how much time can you allow.

Normally about an hour. I priced at £60 for the roof. This one was much dirtier than I appreciated and UPVC was quite tough to clean. But your wording is very good and will use it tomorrow and going forward.

  £60.00 quid is a bit steep, this is why they will be fussy. thinking you do only mean the roof,
unless of course it was filthy.

Did you use tap water? any lead on the conny roof?

I think it would help to have pics and better description of the roof,  you mentioned that there was Upvc ? Is the capping ( finials ) plastic ? Or lead ? Or is there lead flashing where its joined to the property?

Did you ask if the glass was self cleaning ? Assuming that the new owners have is info.

If self cleaning your may find that the surface has been damaged through neglect or chemicals being used to clean it previously

Good tip, I think I'm gonna do this from now on, I waste loads of water on glass roofs trying to get all the crap off, no matter how much I rinse there always seems to be bits still there.

It was sizable. About mid sized I would say. One of hose with long panels away from the wall and not much pitch.

Not sure if there is lead flashing where it joins the property. I will look tomorrow.

The owners are new and it didn't look to me as though it had been cleaned for a long time. £60 seemed about right to me. I figured 90 minutes at most.

It is the first time I have been called back on a roof, but when I left I could see it wasn't the standard I would normally leave them in, but I had put in effort (more probably) commensurate with the price I charged and would have expected it better when I left.

Could it be old silicone residue?
We've a glass conny roof and there are a few marks in the corners but they've used clear silicone.
It's nothing major, though.

Yep I have unger handles and they push fit onto the taper
You always change the end of the pole to different styles

From what I could see any marks were on the inside except for three round stains with a hole in the middle which look as though they were the reult of 3 CDs being left on the roof for months/years. There were two marks on the conny windows which I had missed, but was easily able to scrape off.

I was paid and all is good for future 8 weekly job.

I've seen it very occasionally on windows.

Good advice there. Half the problems are stopped before they can get started that way.
