Extra pump wiring.
« on: August 23, 2013, 10:39:13 pm »
Hi.

I've just aquired an extra pump. To wire it in, cAn I hack into my existing pumps live and neutral wires, OR do I have to run extra wires from leisure battery, OR do I need a junction / splitter thing after the leisure battery?

You can 'hack' into your existing wires provided the wires are able to carry the extra load.

Personally though, I would run a second set of cables from the leisure battery.

Each pump can draw up to 8 amps, so your original cable has got to be rated for 20amps minimum if you 'hack' it.

always best to run a new cable.

like spruce said each pump can draw upto 8amps, so if there is a 10amp fuse like there should be to protect the pump, taping into that will cause this to blow all the time.
