Water Usage?
« on: August 22, 2013, 07:27:10 pm »
We have recently moved house and are now on a water meter, I have a 650 ltr tank which I fill daily, so with waste say 1000 ltrs a day x5, Any ideas how to work out how much 5000 ltrs of water per week is now costing me, I nervously await the water bill!!! We're with Severn Trent if that makes a difference?

I think you are being too conservative with your waste water estimate.
You are only allowing for a 35% waste to 65% pure ratio?
You will be lucky if you are getting a 50/50 ratio, which would equate to 1300 ltrs per day x 5= 6500 ltrs per week
But could be more usage than that dependant on your ratio.

Only estimating at the mo, just trying to get a ballpark figure? Wondering if I need to put the car up for sale in anticipation of the impending bill?

A very rough estimate of £5 per day I reckon.
Probably a bit less.

If you are a 1 man band be surprised if you are using 650l a day.

I had to go on a water meter 5 years ago and it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. Not sure on the exact extra cost but I just go to work and do not worry about it.

The more water you use the more money you are earning.

Severn Trent is 250tds in my part of Staffordshire , although some parts are as you say. Last I heard water was about £3 per 1000litre in South Staffs water area.

To answer the original question, I am in Severn Trent area. I pay £65.00 p/m and am on a meter. We consume about 4000 litres p/w from my home tap.
