Im not sure all I know it's an old one from purefreedom. What is a good unit that will produce water at a faster rate. Can any one recommend any
The trouble with those RoMan type r/o's is that the r/o housings can take a variety of different membranes. So you may still not know what membrane is in there if you took it out to look at it. The first unit we had was a 225GPD unit. It had 3 r/o housings with 75GPD membranes fitted into each housing. The best upgrade we did was to replace the 75GPD membranes with 150GPD membranes. That doubled our water production.
If your system is still good, and you have less than 3 housings, you can buy upgrade kits. I think on 1/4" tube, 3 housings with 150GPD membranes in each are as far as you can go. If you go this route, always buy the correct resistor for your membranes. I like the ones that RoMan sell. They incorporate an on/off valve so flushing becomes easy.
At the same time we upgraded our system, we purchased a used 1000 litre IBC tank and started processing into that. That supplied the needs of both of us for 6 years, me filling my van at night and my son filling his in the morning. We were using about 800 litres a day between us.
We now have a 4040 as we have a third cleaner joined us part time, and the 450GPD unit couldn't cope in the winter when water production dropped. I think a 4040 is too big for a single operator as its 'overkill', but others will have different opinions. I think membranes need to work a bit.
If I was on my own I would probably go for a 4021 unit although the cost of replacement membranes will be about the same.
If you fit a float switch to the ibc tank and a normally off solenoid valve on your water supply, you will always have a full 1000 liter tank of pure water when you need it.
