If a commercial client asks for quotes excl. & including VAT

What do you do if you are not VAT registered?

I have wrote the following on the quote:

"We are a small business and we are not VAT registered, so all prices are represented at total cost."

I am worried this sounds unprofessional, any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Don't worry about it !

I do the same but just put

'We do not charge vat as we are no at the
Threshold'  or not  register etc

It's never scuppered my chances of decent jobs

keep it simple

Just write total price, I'd you was vat registered it would be that price plus vat so they would still pay the same yet they would then claim the vat back after

I just put VAT not applicable.
Don't give an explanation-it seems like your apologising (IMO)
If they query it, there's the time to explain.

Agree,

before I was Vat registered and I thought it was £100.00 job

I would just put:

Quotation:

To clean all external windows, doors, frames and sills using the ladderless Reach & Wash waterfed pole system

= £100.00

Like others have said, you do not have to go into it, just let them know YOU are good, and they will want you

Many thanks everyone, you're informative as per usual!
Ive used a mix:

Quote
We do not charge VAT as we are no at the VAT threshold so all prices here are represented at total cost.

Cheers!

COST | £100.00
VAT    | £  00.00
TOTAL| £100.00

Thats all you need, no need to explain.

I invoice a massive car manufacturer monthly for window cleaning and have done for over ten years.

Last year I quoted to clean loads of building cladding for them and the quote was ended with:-

Total price  £Xthousand pounds  non-vat registered.

Some companies will only deal with Vat registered companies.

Only come across this a couple of times, guess it must make their accounting simpler.
