Gardiner hose joiner New
« on: July 01, 2013, 09:29:08 pm »
About 40 foot in my hose reel sprung a leek got through the day.

Just tried to repair; cut out dodgy bit of hose and used hose joiner but as suspected water sprayed out of edges where hose joiner is.

What should i be doing using glue or o rings?

thanks.
Lee.

maybe a silly question but have you used the right size hose joiner?
should be a tight fit, so much so that you may need to warm up the ends of the hose in hot water to get them on.
I get "rubber weld" or sometimes known as "self amalgamating" tape from a plumbing supplies shop, great for fixing little niggly leaks like this.

One other thing Lee, if the hose has started to wear at on end take it all off the reel and switch ends , your first 20-30 meters will be like new again as its the most used  ;)

both good points by poshgraive thats what i used to do but i never ever used the hose joiners , Just used self-amalgamating tape and repaired on the go .

Once you get one leak others will start to appear over the weeks . Mike
