Yanmar Pressure Washer, Help
« on: June 19, 2013, 09:12:31 pm »
Hi,

I purchased a Yanmar Pressure Washer around 2 Years ago, not knowing I wouldn't use it, I have only used it once.
Now wanting to get in too Pressure Washing, if it's not too late ;), I have got it out the Shed and not too sure if it's works as well as it should.

Now my Questions are:
1; The Pressure valve tap states 4080 PSI, I doubt it will pull that much pressure,
2; Would it matter pulling water from a standard house main, rather than a bin/barrel
3; As it must weight like 200KG if not more, due to the frame (I think), should I just sell and get something much lighter.
4; I think the engine is restricted due to a screw near the engine ( Stop, Half, Full ) switch

Here are some pictures, thanks in advance:

Just use it and stop worrying.
To answer the questions
1) It wont
2) Only run it via a barrel
3) 150 kgs.... eat more spinach.
4)It's not a moped but running it on cassie"r" would help.

* Edit, It pulls only 2000PSI, so I'm just wondering if it's broken, and will 2000PSI be enough,

Screw the black k nob all the way in.   "+" follow the arrow.
Where the water comes out " the nozzle" fit a new one that says 25 05.... 25 being the angle 05 being the hole size.

Uploader has been turned to full, when it's full it sometimes hits 2000PSI, then drops to 1500PSI, for some reason..
Thanks for the information guys, really appreciated,

I was going to purchase a new lance, and was looking at the Hypo Nozzle? but wanting to get this working A* first,

Thanks for the advise, I will drop you a text tomorrow Chris,

I think purchasing a new Lance + Nozzle could help? or could it, I was looking at the Turbo Nozzle,

So are these PowerWashers fine for Patios, Driveways ect, if I purchase  a FSC?

Check to see how much it is bypassing while pulling the trigger, the uploader might have a restricting nut that you are tightening down to, so it looks like it is full tight but not

The brendons are set at 207 bar, the unloader will have a yellow paint mark at the top which shows if the the unloaders been turned or tampered with, if the paint mark is broken, then it has been tampered with, it may need turning, if the paint mark is in tact then don't adjust it. You should check your nozzle first to see if it's the right size, should be an 045 to create 207 bar,
How are you feeding the washer? if your feeding it from a tap then that could be the reason of low pressure as there isn't enough water, also has it's been sat it may have a cracked piston, therefore sucking in some air instead of all water.
If your sucking from a drum, make sure your hose or filter isn't blocked and restricting water.
If all is fine then look towards the revs, again there should be a yellow paint mark on the governing bolt, if this has been broken then it will have been tampered with, if it's not broke then it's set right
if you have gone through these things and it still only produces 2000psi then you may need a seal kit.
These machines are not designed to be run off a tap, hence the reason they have a suction filter.

Kenny, thanks for the useful information.

Water was being fed from the Tap, so this is probably a good reason why it's not pulling the correct PSI, also, I will purchase a new Nozzle with a 045 as you stated, this could help.. I think i might go for the turbo as this looks highly rated!
Will using a standard hose to pull water from a Barrel, Bin be adequate or would i need something with a wider circum, I will give it a test through usuing a Barrel tomorrow, and will order a new lance and nozzle, any recommendations

Damian @ Qservices 01524241548,
The equipment you need is 1 x 045 turbo, 3 metres of 3/4 braided hose, 1 x brass suction filter.
seeing as it's already set up to be tap fed it's worth testing it for leaks before you switch it to be suction fed, to do this connect it to your hose pipe, with the gun and lance on, machine turned off, then turn your tap on, look under the pump and brass head for any drips
Thanks
you may also need a 3/4 inch barb fitting to go on the pump to take the suction pipe (in place of your hoselock connection)

Thanks Damian @ QServices, If you were closer I would probably take it in to you guys to sort out, with the correct fittings ect. as I'm sure it could do with a service

Didn't manage to have a look at it today as the battery a friend give me is dead, and currently on charge not sure if it's holding charge so might need to purchase another, (Any ideas on what battery it uses, as it looks smaller than a car battery ) with the pull starter not working.

I will order the Items you suggested, any ideas to get this machine any lighter, as iv'e seen the newer machines look alot lighter than this, even pulling it is hard work. :(

My name is not damian, that's the guy you should ring, lol. and I think the battery is a type 54, not sure, you will need to ring brendon power washers to confirm, there is no way of getting it lighter, the trick is not to move it around, Ie, buy a long hose reel for it so you can leave it in your van

Sorry Kenny, I thought someone called Damian was using your account! My bad  ;)

What do you think about this Power washer in general? once it's fully up to max power, is it good.. downsides? should I just sell and get something better, maybe add a little cash!
Or will this do what I need it for, Driveways, Patios, Decking ect, as a 3000PSI, 15LPM iv'e heard I should be looking for a 21LPM machine, and a FSC

You front need 21 ltrs for driveways. 3000psi and 15 ltrs pm will do the job.

I have exactly the same machine, but a newer model, used it for almost 2 years now, does the job fine, before this one I had the same machine with the Honda diesel engine, again, fine, done commercial and domestic with them.
21 litres will help you do the job quicker though, but ive managed with this machine for years, it's one of the best on the market in my eyes, maybe even the best in it's class (3000 psi / 15ltre)

Kenny thanks for your advise your a Star*,

So I guess getting the most out of this machine until It has paid of and purchase something much better, something I guess 21LPM, Now when you had this machine did keep it in the Van? Flat Surface Cleaner? Turbo Nozzle?

But I think this could do with a Good old cleanup, and service as I will probably take a video tomorrow, it knocks, like a ticking sound, probably needs an oil flush but I think someone must service these.

Thanks,
