Visited a commercial premises yesterday with a view to quote but job is so big it would take 3 men to do insides and they need to be done in 1hr 30mins and that is the first building

Second building would take approx 30 mins for open offices and windows , Then third building would take another 1 hour .

That is working flat out but the third building insides their is no rush to be out the others have office staff so need to be in and out fast .

Then the outsides would take about 1hr 45 mins with wfp with 1 man,  Waited along time for something like this but it is the insides that will make this job more difficult than most .

Pretty stumped but dont want to miss out if possible . Mike

Phase it out over 2 or 3 mornings and charge accordingly, or get them to move a little and allow you to be in whilst staff are there.

Yes i defo need to phase it out over 2-3 days i was thinking that it is the fact that they have the open offices with the glazed panels ,

I was hoping to get it done over 2 mornings but i know it is probably going to take longer than i think it might due to all the glass and legwork involved across the 3 buildings .

Thanks for that steve if it was not insides then it would be a lot easier to get my head round i have asked a lad i know to come with me on the job if i get it .

I think i need to go and have a look around again with someone else over the weekend then put my price in on Monday . Mike

Do it all out of hours? One evening or through the night?

We used to clean Britannia Building Society head offices. All of the externals were done during the week and the internals were done over the weekend.

Three floors, on both buildings, a massive amount of glass & dividers, doors etc.

They were working on Saturday mornings, in the call centre, while we cleaned the windows.

There was never a problem in asking, one at a time, if they would move while we cleaned 'their' window.

Took about four or five of us all day, per floor

I work on my own so i need to bring another 1 or 2 lads in starting on a friday afternoon then working till insides are done .

Do outsides throughout Saturday,  The insides would be done every 8 weeks and outsides currently every 4 weeks . So i need to be 100% before i put price in to make sure i dont under price the job and regret it . Mike

Why are you limited to 1 1/2 hours ? Is there no option to start at 4 or 5 am and give yourself some extra time ?  Or make it a weekend job most places have security to let you in and out

Thinking defo weekend job never priced anything as big took 45 mins to walk sround I fefo want the job .

I just dont want to be out of my depth and balls it up .

Had time to think it over as well as chat with a mate , Might not be as daunting as i first thought not got the job yet .

But an extra pair of hands will make all the difference , And may get through it quicker than i think . Mike

Thanks for that Dave their is a lot of external  glass , But its the insides were the biggest part of work without a doubt its near enough  a full day for 2 lads for the insides .

After looking at pics and mulling it over i have just about got my price together,  Had a good chat with a fellow windy  mate last night which helped me get my head around it . Mike

What's the frequency?  If it's a regular frequency, don't clean all the internal windows every time; they probably won't need it anyway (I know I know, I'm a cowboy).  Check 'em and clean them if they need it; clean the ones in the main traffic areas every time and the lesser priority ones over a period of time.  In this way you maybe able to keep to the time you're allotted.

Take this into account when quoting; so you can quote less, yet still end up with a profitable job since you've factored 'cutting corners' into the equation.

You can bet they've asked other window cleaners for quotes; and one of them will do what I'm suggesting you do.

Yes you are tosh . Never quote for windows your not going to clean!
 But if your going to manage their window cleaning be honest about it and reflect it in the price.
