another window cleaner trying to steal my commercial.
« on: June 06, 2013, 08:43:03 pm »
i have a nice commercial job i do twice a month.
Was there today.
I was there cleaning windows on one house and another window cleaner was cleaning a house few doors down.
The sales women were looking at a house with woman from head office.
The other window cleaner approached them and said he wants to put a price in and who does he ring.
The woman from head office gave him the number.
The site sales woman told me later on.
What would you do???
I dont like the said window cleaner very much, hes a slime ball that undercuts.
Takings off all first cleans till march 7th 2014
October  total=  cleaned  extra per month
November = cleaned extra per month
Total £  so far.

Thats how i get a lot of my commercial work. As gav said business is business. 8 years ago you could charge pretty much what you wanted to do high commercial work. Nowdays its a different story altogether so much competition and price wars going on.

oh my gawd, someone has the audacity to ask to quote a job :o

us window cleaners are weird, expecting no one to quote our work.

a wee tip, there is no unwritten morale code

Stuart m,

It depends on your views, i personally do not go out of my way to take work from another window cleaner, i just do a good job and if asked, then i provide a quote, but that's me.

I have always had the same view since i started, but obviously now there are more and more window cleaners, and the bulk of that can be put down that there are waterfed poles where some people wouldn't want to climb a ladder, so its a lot easier in that respect.

Stuart m,

Amongst a lot of window cleaners in the north west, and  window cleaners that have been at it a while in the north west, there actually is an unwritten code.

Windiewasher,

i share similar views to you obviously, but obviously commercial is more cut throat, so it happens.

If i do a good job for a commercial client, and they are approached and they are influenced by cheaper quotes - then obviously it brassess me off, but its better to see there poor loyalty early on.

They are not worth your blood pressure pal.

archer I actually agree with you, I don't go out my way to bother other w/c's but when it happens to me I do not take it personally, they are running a business

see when you did groupon, or delivered leaflets or canvassed, did you care that you may be quoting others work?

and how were your morals when you built your round while claiming sick from an employer?

can't remember you being to fussed about that.

if you are doing a good job for a fair price you should not be worried by others, you are in business though, it will happen, I don't know why window cleaners take it personally

Stuart m,

your comments there are pretty stupid towards me, and if you would like me to educate you a little just ask, because i WILL make you look a fool with your comments towards me.

You should come down to London the competition is unreal, dozens and dozens of commercial window cleaning companies all chasing the same work.

We pick up new business every week, but it's not really new business it's somebody else's business, we also lose jobs every week to the compaetition it's just the way it goes.
