need some advice on a new battery please
« on: June 05, 2013, 09:49:07 pm »
hi guys, my haze agm battery is all but dead, only get a couple of hours out of  it. what can I replace it with on  a budget? and will my ipro lite charger that I currently use charge a leisure battery as mine is a golf 30ah and think I need more like a 100ah battery???? I know idealy id have a split relay but not sure if that's for me as all my work is within 5 miles, so prob would have to take the battery out and charge in house at some point I think???? need a battery quick and not sure which one to get whilst keeping costs as low as possible. any advice would be a great help. cheers.

If your charger is standard leisure battery charger with crocodile clips ,   Then you could get a a battery from www.halfords.com

Pre-order online for store collection as they are generally £20 or so cheaper online than in store prices . Mike

i have a leisure battery and a car battery and just swap them over at the end of of each days work leaving one on charge throughout the day.

any old battery will do mate.scrapyard if your skint. although a new battery will only be £60.id still go new as you need a decent battery to run your pump.
price higher/work harder!

Hi  Daz.

Was thinking of a car battery.

At the mo i use pure drive golf trolley battery 22ah

Charge every evening.

I bet the car battery would only need doing 2-3 days.

What  charger have you got Daz just wondering does that charger do for your leisure and car battery?

Mines an 80Ah Varta Jag battery I bought through a mate in the trade, I wont go on about it because you'll think I'm exaggerating but let me just say it's very good indeed. Not cheap but a reliable power source with the old one as back up.

Just replaced my old battery that was from a 3 litre jag,got it free of a customer about 2 years ago,was far better than my old 85 amp leisure battery which i had to take out every couple weeks to charge as short journeys on relay.never needed to take out the jag battery.

Went to my local tip a few weeks ago with two old batterys and asked the guy if I could swap them over,

one was dud but the over works well so far,big heavy duty one.

The dud will go back and get swapped again at some point, also got a 17 amp trolley type battery, all for nowt.

Bought a ctek charger for £55.

Go to the local scrappers.
My £15 battery has been running for over a year now with no problems.
