WCW backpack speed controller
« on: May 25, 2013, 11:54:16 am »
I've got the WCW backpack with the speed controller on, but just recently, it's messing around, when you turn it nothing happens then all of a sudden it kicks in, it's like the contacts inside the controller are dirty.

Can these be taken apart, or do they have to be replaced?

I have a wcw backpack. Found it would work then cut out. If it was knocked it would start up again. I concluded loose wire somewhere.

Had to replace the controller about a year ago as I snapped of the numpty. Controller electric board is resin bonded in a case so can't be worked on. Maybe u just have a loose wire?

I had a similar problem.
Stripped it down, renewed and soldered connections and seemed ok.
Not long after same problem, checked it out, battery was good, pump works, connections were sound but the problem seems intermittent. I could not get to the bottom of it so have retired the ferkin' thing to the garage and not used it since.
This is a common problem with them and the carpet cleaners on this forum who use them have had problems aswell.
They are built to a price so not made to last in my opinion.

Think this is a comon problem with them i have got 3 wcw backpacks 2 of the controllers have gone. If it's less than 12mths old give them a call they will replace it. And as it's been said put sealant around the thread section stop water getting in  8)

I disconnected the flow controller and the voltmeter so it's battery,on-off switch and the pump. But it still needs a kick to start time to time.

Probably dodgy pressure switch.

Took mine out, I always had it on full flow anyway and for me problem now solved. I have noticed that my battery needs a good twelve hours charge to do a days work.

ive had 3 new speed controllers in the last year,  my warranty has expired so I will have to buy new ones now, around £15.        still worth it.       ive noticed they haven't got the 18litre one now.
