quality time at home

as above this can only be achieved getting customers to pay into your bank or paypal  it has taken almost 2 years to convince my customers to do this, i would say roughly only 45% use this facility. so  is still have a bit to collect manually so to speak , honestly i have tried and cant see how i can ever get to 100% of customer paying online

you wont convert everyone! people are set in there ways. Ideally this needs to be done from day one.

I reckon 15-20% of mine pay online and the rest send payment via S.A.E. I reckon I havent collected in nearly 3 years.

I do get the odd offender who sends payment when they feel like it, BUT they do always pay and its only a couple of customers as I say, so I can handle that.

Saying that every now and then I notice that a customer has started to pay online, so I expect more customers will eventually pay this way. I dont imagine it will ever be 100% though.

Online payment's make life so simple . . . . better than going to bank, and putting cheques into the machine, and having a line of people behind  cursing you !

I only collect from two estate areas; so my collection is twice a month.  I actually use this for running training; I plan an easy run and go collecting at the same time.

Going over ten years and never collected? SAE from when I started 50p on price for stamp, if they dont pay by next clean then no stamp in SAE, So a 50p late payment charge. Its worked so far ;-)

Never collected form day one back in 1996.

Then it was pay cash or cheque on the day or send a cheque. Occasionally they'd drop off cheque or cash by hand.

In April

Cash collected on the day      30%
Cash dropped in by custy         5%
Cheques sent in by custy       34%
Cheques dropped in by custy    1%
On line                                 30%

It's a game of three halves!
